Mar 4, 2018 - Finally arrived in the Rio Grande Valley in southern Texas

After five days of travel, we arrived in San Benito and the Fun N Sun Resort. We had stayed here a couple of years ago. We found that many of the "Winter Texans" were starting to migrate north. But we had a few social activities like a Hawaian luau. St. Patrick Day party, etc. John golfed a few times but it was very windy most day. John had some dental work done in Mexico and was very happy with results Not to mention the cost. By the time we left on April 9th we were looking forward to travelling again.

Feb 11, 2010 - San Benito

I can't believe that it has been so long since I have updated this journal. We have just mostly stayed around San Benito for the last couple of weeks. The weather is warm buy a lot of clouds and rain. We were going to take a shelling tour down into Mexico but it was cancelled. We have gone to New Progreso Mexico and to the Gladys Porter Zoo in Brownsville. Mostly just hanging around. I can't wait until we start heading west in late March.

Feb 9, 2010 - Headed to Texas

Well, let me see if I can remember how to do this. We left today after hunting all over town for some SAINTS shirts and flags for the car. Wasn't that the most awesome game?-at least for us LA folk from the WHO DAT NATION. We have South Dakota tags but now I want my LA tags back. It is a long story as to why SD-so don't ask. We are going to an RV show tomorrow-in Houston. We will then head to meet Rebecca & Alan at South Padre Island before going to San Benito.. No pictures yet but I guess I could show you my SAINTS flags and shirts. tee...

2010 Adventures

Oct 26, 2009 - Rio Grande Valley (RGV)

We arrived in the Rio Grande Valley in the late afternoon. This is the farthest south we will go on this trip. We are about even with Miami. People from the North come to this area for the winter. They are called "Winter Texans". We decided to stay in a large RV Park. There are over 1100 spaces with many manufactured homes and park models (which is a name for a small mobile home) as well as motorhomes and 5th wheels (large campers that trucks pull). The winter season gets going about November 1 so we are parked alongside a palm tree with...

Mar 22, 2009 - Joe's Achilles Tendon

March 22 - Joe tore his achilles tendon on January 9th and saw a doctor at Urgent Care on the 12th. He walked around on it for 4 weeks after being told it was a sprain. We went to another urgent care after it didn't seem to be getting any better and they gave him a boot to wear and made an appointment to see an orthaepedic surgeon. The surgeon casted him for 5 weeks and he got around with crutches in the motorhome and a wheelchair for travel in and outside of the park. We are now back to the walking boot with stretching and strengthening....

Jan 20, 2009 - San Benito, TX - Fun & Sun

01/20/2009 Inaugaration Day. We watched the inaugaration on TV before we left Brownsville and headed for San Benito, only about 20 miles away so it was no big deal starting out later. Joe is still not able to do much of anything so it will be good to stay put for a month or so. There are so many activities in this park you could be busy every day. Most of the buildings and pools stay open 24 hours so if you can't sleep, there is always someplace to go. A park volunteer picked us up and showed us around the park. We were impressed with the...
