From Cagle Recreation Area In The Sam Houston National Forest – New Waverly, TX Monday we made the drive from Jefferson to our new location in the Sam Houston National Forest just south of Huntsville and north of Conroe. We will be here throughout the holidays and enjoy visiting with family. Today we made a short trip over to Bryan, TX to have our Christmas with my Mom and Stepdad. Home Sweet RV - 2009

Apr 20, 2009 - Our horrible trip to Colfax

Horrible traveling day today !!! Took 6.5 hours to go 247 miles, over very rough road. It wasn’t bad until we got into Louisiana. We planned to stay in Leesville, but when we got there the small RV park was full. We were referred to one on the way to Alexandria, but when we got to that one, it was full also. So we called an RV park in Colfax, as we were going to take a county road (8-E) up around Alexandria so we could avoid the heavily-traveled 4-lanes. Boy, was that a mistake. Apr 17, 2009 - Sam Houston National Forest

Thursday we headed out to try to miss the big storm coming in. Drove about 200 miles east (on about 7 different highways) and are camped in the Sam Houston National Forest. Really nice park, right alongside a lake. Bob may end up throwing a line in while we’re here. We’ll stay here 3 nites due to the rain. That’ll make a total of 108 days so far out of 155 days with no hookups. Will need to run the generator this weekend as there is no sunlight (darn freezer) !!!
