Mar 22, 2012 - Nothin' Matters But Being With You

Carried Away I don't take my whiskey to extremes, I don't believe in chasing crazy dreams, My feet are planted firmly on the ground, But darlin', when you come around... I get carried away by the look, By the light in your eyes, Before I even realize the ride I'm on, Baby, I'm long gone, I get carried away, Nothin' matters but being with you, Like a feather flyin' high up in the sky on a windy day, I get carried away... It may seem like an ordinary night, the same old stars, the same old moon up high, But when I see you...

Life's A Journey

Nov 22, 2011 - Houston, TX

Drove to Rosenberg, TX today which is just south of Houston. We encountered a lot of rain, sometimes heavy coming across Louisiana. We didn't time our arrival too well because we had to drive through Houston during rush hour - 6 lanes of traffic in each direction - bumper to bumper - going 70 MPH. We're from small Pittsburgh - not used to such nonsense. But we made it safe and sound.

Nov 30, 2010 - Rosenberg, TX

We drove to our next destination today - Rosenberg, Texas. This is a little south of Houston. The sun came out and stayed out. However, the temperatures aren't any better than when we left home. We have seen frost every morning so far. Hope it gets better.

A New Adventure

Nov 28, 2009 - A trip to North Carolina

Okay so we are ready to start another trip. This time we are going to North Carolina to visit the wife's brother. We finished the last trip with her sister now we are headed to see her brother. We will be leaving Monday morning and I am still trying to avoid driving more than about four hours a day. There is loads of construction the way we are going so I am not happy about this and also am not happy about going through Atlanta but I guess what will be will be. I guess it is time to get on the road again. We will be home by Christmas. In...

Oct 27, 2009 - It is almost time

Well Mary has worked her last day. She is off tomorrow and then has to go in on Thursday for the final paperwork and a little ceremony. Her sister will be here and my daughter will be going too. Then Thursday night is a party. We are thinking now that we will get on the road on Sunday. Hopefully we will be leaving Sunday morning and will only drive about three or four hours down the road and will stop at New Braunfels for the night. Stay tuned for our travels

Oct 12, 2009 - It is getting closer and closer

Okay only a couple of weeks left before the trip. Of course I keep looking at the weather and wonder how this is going to be but then I also have to remember that what the heck difference does it make if the weather is bad we just stay someplace a little longer. It is hard to think about having unlimited time to travel and look and not have to be someplace or be back on a certain date. Yes of course we have dates in mind but there is nothing written in stone. We know we want to be back home around thanksgiving and at the end of the month to...

Oct 5, 2009 - Getting Closer and Getting More Excited

As we get closer and closer to the wife's retirement date we get more excited. I have done a few things with the truck to get it ready. Different exhaust system (actually just changed the muffler), "Super Springs" on the back end of the truck, and a sway bar on the hitch. Still planning on leaving on the 3rd of November getting home for thanksgiving and then leaving again after that and heading to Florida or the vicinity of it anyway. We are ready. Now the time just needs to pass and away we go.

Sep 18, 2009 - Our first trip as old retired people

One month and she will be retired. I have been retired about three years. But we are planning. Somehow I think that it will get all changed by the time we leave, but hey, we are planning now. We are taking a short 3 week cruise in our camper from home to Santa Fe and back. We will be stopping along the way to visit various friends but for the most part we will be in Texas or pretty close to it the entire time. We have lots of old friends to see and we plan on visiting as many of them as possible. Then if all goes well we will be home for...
