Mar 13, 2013 - Touring around Rio Frio

On our final days in this area, which we have really enjoyed, we are touring around and getting a last look at the Hill Country. We are still amazed at the diversity of creatures that we have seen. On one of our explorations, we took a turn and found an ostrich staring at us through a fence. Of course, we had to stop and get a closer look. She was very friendly and would gently take blades of grass from my hand. It was really hard to find a blade of grass to offer her! Everything is so dry here. There is also a lot of roadkill here. Mar 8, 2013 - Hill Country sights

Our first full day in the Hill Country and we decided to take a tour. This was about a 50 mile loop through some of the most gorgeous canyons we have ever seen. When we were in Rio Hondo, one of our neighbors was an avid motorcyclist and gave us a map of some neat roads around here. We really haven't seen much of them yet but, wow! Rick and Roy, you would love these with your fast cars! The scenery is beyond compare with a new view around every corner. I can see why this section of Texas is a destination location. Mar 7, 2013 - Parkview Riverside RV Park

We have a change of scenery! We are now ensconced at Parkview Riverside RV Park in Rio Frio, TX. Nice little park on the Frio River which actually has water in it! We are here for a week and will explore the area before moving a little more north. Rio Frio is a tiny town, west of San Antonio. There are beautiful cliffs around us and the river is crystal clear.
