May 21, 2013 - May 21, 2013 – Aubrey, Texas
May 21, 2013 – Aubrey, Texas I was going to meet Helen for lunch today in Irving, but the weather put a kibosh on that. It is all the way across Dallas from here, and I didn’t want to be driving in hard rain and possibly hail or even a tornado. It began to rain about 1:30 and rained hard until about 4:30 p.m. We were under a severe thunderstorm warning all afternoon and a tornado watch until 7 p.m. Fortunately, there was no hail and no tornado. I’ve spent the day working on my posts, editing pictures and uploading both. I am caught up now...

May 20, 2013 – Plano, Texas Today I watched Let’s Make a Deal before I attempted to set out to do some chores. However, before I got out the door, I got a call from a cousin, Wilma. She and her husband are planning their 60th wedding anniversary celebration, and she wanted to know if it would be possible for me to attend a party in Missouri this summer. Since her wedding was the 1st one I ever attended, I readily agreed to be there. I remember being really impressed by all her attendants. We visited for a while before I left to do my...

May 17, 2013 – Plano, Texas Helen had to go in for a half day today so I slept in. I went to bed at 8:30 last night and woke up at 8:30 this morning. I spent the rest of the morning doing a few things around the house. I met Helen for lunch, and we had a good time visiting. We didn’t anything other than visit this afternoon. I made it back to the coach just as it was getting dark. jnd

Jun 6, 2012 - Plano TX
Up at 7:00 (early for us now!) to take Pepper for another walk. Roby had an appointment. By the time we got back, Todd, Rita and Cullen were up[. Our assignment from Roby was to make breakfast but they were so full from the night before that there were no takers. We chatted until about 10:00 when Roby came home. Todd and Cullen are also distributors of a product called protandim which is a phytonutrient that signals the body’s genes to produce anti-oxidizing enzymes that destroy free radicals that cause disease, contributes to the aging...

Jun 6, 2012 - Plano
Rained overnight so it was not so humid in the morning. Roby took us on an hour walk around the neighborhood. Very nice park-like residential area with ponds, fountains etc. Is also very conveniently located to Costco, Whole Foods and other necessities. Forgot to ask about Trader Joe’s. Roby made us French toast and bacon for breakfast. Yummy. He fried the toast in bacon grease with butter and added cinnamon and brown sugar to the batter. It was cool enough to eat by the pool. Pepper had a great time finding a nesting spot in the monkey...

Jun 6, 2012 - Plano TX
Very humid at camp so we sat at the pool where there was a breeze until we showered and left for our appointment at Waco with Dr. Richenstein. Pepper stayed in his office ( with a window that he could see out and entertain himself!) while we had lunch at the faculty club. Were on the way to Plano by 1:00. Stopped at Costco to get provisions for making Roby and Theresa dinner. Barry Ganley reminded of us of the rack of lamb recipe he gave us years ago (we have made many times but the TX flies have sapped what memory we had of it.) Arrived...

Nov 16, 2011 - Tiny "E"
We drove to Dallas today to have lunch with my brother Stephen and also to get a glimpse at my newest grand nephew Elliot or as new Grandpa Stephen sometimes calls him "Tiny E." Amanda was able to go with us and we had a great lunch at a "homestyle cooking" place called The Mecca. Afterwards, we drove to Plano to my nephew Jordan and his lovely wife Lauren's house where my sister-in-law Debbie was babysitting Elliot for the day. He had just gone to sleep, so I wasn't expecting too much out of him, but he woke up with gusto at the new faces,...

Oct 21, 2011 - Finally...Moving this weekend
A lot of progress has been made. Katie's coming to get everything that she wants out of the house this weekend, we've given away or sold almost everything else. It's looking good for us to be out of here soon. Our plan is to be on the road, headed to a beach, on November 6th. Wish us luck!

Sep 29, 2011 - It's official!
Today we became the official owners of our 2006 Phaeton. No turning back now! After almost a year of searching for our new home on wheels, we finalized the deal. This is our "moon and stars aligned" story: We exhausted our search for the perfect home in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area and decided to try our luck in Houston, Texas. We took a trip to Houston to stay with our friends Kari and James with plans to visit several dealerships in the area. We stayed up too late playing spades so postponed our trip to PPL for a day. Off we go to PPL and as...

May 1, 2011 - Back home to Texas
Although we were having a good time on our trip, it seems that 6 weeks out must be our absolute maximum time to comfortably be away from home. As we planned our route home from Sequoia we at first were going to make a stop at the Grand Canyon as well as some National Monuments along the way. We kept streamlining our trip home to long days of driving to get back home via Interstate 40...old Route 66. We have both traveled this road as children on family trips and together years ago. We did stop at a wonderful National Monument outside of...

Mar 22, 2010 - South Fork Ranch
Monday was a whole lot better, the wind had subsided and the early morning temperatures were higher than the daytime highs for the previous two days. We were fortunate to enjoy plus 20 with lots of sunshine for our visit to the South Fork Ranch, northeast of Dallas. The ranch was made famous by the TV series Dallas which ran from 1978 to 1991. The ranch was used for all the exterior shots of Ewing’s life on the ranch. All the interior shots for the show were done on a sound stage in Hollywood. At the beginning of our tour we learned that...
