Mar 27, 2019 - Packing to go home!
Well when you keep busy time just flies by. It’s hard to believe almost 5 months has gone by already. We will be leaving the park on Monday, April 1st and heading pretty much straight home. Don will probably talk me into stopping at least once to golf and we will be stopping in at Ogema to visit Don’s Mom and sister. So the plan is to be home on the 4th or 5th. So what have we done in the last 2 months: In February we made another trip to Mexico (dentist) to get Shelly’s crown and hopefully there will be no more dental problems. The Rock...Jump to full entry
Feb 28, 2019 - Life goes on
Hello everyone, Sorry I know its been a long time since the last update but its just life as usual in the RGV. I have been going round number 2 of the Texas Crud for the past three weeks and now Linda has come down with it. I know I won't get much sympathy from you folks up north, but our temperature has been bouncing back and forth between the 50's and the 80's. Very healthy weather, so about half of the park is sick or just getting over it. The pictures are all of Bingo and Casino night. You would think that is all we do but that's all...Jump to full entry
Jan 22, 2019 - Belated Happy New Year!
Happy New Year! I meant to get to this before now but something always seemed to get in the way. I will start with the sad news. Marc Delage who is the son of Maurice the owner of the farm where Don & I work in the summer became sick late last year with a rare blood disorder and we were notified on Friday that he passed away that morning in Edmonton where he had been getting treatment. Our hearts and prayers go out to the family, so sad. So since my last blog, we have celebrated Christmas and New Years. On Dec 18th we had the Rock Club...Jump to full entry
Jan 11, 2019 - January 11
Hello to all! Its been a busy two weeks since the last update, and to top it all off we have both been sick with colds. I had it first and now Linda is having fun with it. Any Way... Let's start off with New Years Day. Every New years Day they have a potluck down at the hall. This year I agreed to provide the entertainment with my friend Larry. We drew a record turnout and everyone had a good time. Good Friends, Good Food, Good Music, what better way to start the new year? The next few pictures are from "card Bingo" night. I was the caller...Jump to full entry
Dec 31, 2018 - Happy New Year
Well, the Holidays are winding up. Tonight we close out 2018 and welcome in then New Year. All of the fireworks stands have been open all week. Fireworks is a big deal down here and it will be a very noisy night. But, lets back up and talk a bit about the pictures I have included. On December 23rd, I hosted a Christmas Sing Along in the hall. I, along with four of my musician friend led everyone in over 20 classic Christmas songs. Thew hall is decorated beautifully and we had a great time. Our friend Irv showed up in his special Green Bay...Jump to full entry
Dec 17, 2018 - December - Week two
Hello All, Sorry i'm a little late with this update but it was a very busy and stressful week. Lets start out where we left off last week with the Christmas Cookie competition. Our favorite cookie baker took second place again this year with her chocolate cookies. Congratulations to Chef Linda! This week was a week of car repairs, I took our car into the body shop on Monday morning and didn't get it back until 5:30 on Friday. Lots of Grrrrr. And on top of that it had to back in today to get finished up. Wednesday night we had a really...Jump to full entry
Dec 16, 2018 - 6 weeks, Where did they go!
Hi Everyone! Well we have been here 6 weeks already, time really flies when you are busy! The weather started out really hot and humid for the first week or so and then we had a cold spell and since then the days are usually in the 70-80’s and cools off at night. Nice for sleeping. Don has been busy cutting all the rocks he collected on the way down and has made about 10 clocks already. I have done a little bit of quilting but have been having a hard time getting motivated. I have been busy in the kitchen, Kathy our leader, has been sick....Jump to full entry
Dec 9, 2018 - Texas Life - Week 2
Hello All, Well, this weeks big event was the Tree Trimming party on Thursday night. This is an annual event and as usual the world renowned Kitchen Band was on stage to provide some entertainment. Yours truly was just a spectator this year (Santa was not asked to put in an appearance). Everyone had a good time and as always with us seniors, everyone brought a snack to share so there was plenty of food for all. The next big event is later today when we have the biannual Christmas cookie contest. And our favorite cookie baker has been hard...Jump to full entry
Dec 3, 2018 - Texas Life - week 1
Hello all, Sorry its been a while but I will try to post an update about once a week to keep everyone informed. The first picture is of our good (Canadian) friends, Linda and Frank Mondeville. They came over when we got here and helped us unload the car and get everything into the house. They are great friends and we really appreciated their help. As you can see my favorite Bingo player was very successful on her first night at card bingo. She won 4 times and was the queen for the night. Now those of you that are already thinking she won...Jump to full entry

Nov 6, 2018 - We made it to Bentsen
Well it was a long drive but we made it to our winter home at Bentsen Grove Resort. The rest of our trip was mostly driving with one last stop at Jim Grey's Petrified Wood store in Holbrook, Arizona. We managed to squeeze in another bunch of rocks and now Don has his work cut out for him this winter. Driving through southeast New Mexico it looks like the oil industry is really booming. I have never seen so many trucks on the roads. We spent the night in Pecos, Tx and had to pay $110 for a room because of the oil. We usually pay around $50 a...Jump to full entry
Mar 29, 2018 - Season is done & we are going home!
Well, the packing is almost done and the season is winding down. Today we will have one last rock club breakfast which will probably be only 4 of us and the last lunch at the hall, our last golf game and out for dinner with friends, busy day, and you will notice I am not cooking (the food is all packed or gone). We are leaving in the morning. The season has just flown by. It’s hard to believe that we have been back from our trip to New Zealand/Australia almost 4 months. It is getting hot with the temperatures usually into the mid 90’s...Jump to full entry
