Apr 12, 2016 - Dragon Fly Restaurant - North Padre Island

We found a French Bistro on North Padre Island with the most delicious food. We had a "40 clove Hog Shank" and a "Nut encrusted flounder with 6 gigantic shrimp on top" took a lot of it home. We finished off our meal with a "Pet de Nonnes" Custard filled Beignets sitting upon a Red Berry Puree Sauce and dusted with powdered sugar. They also had may infused liquors, one that caught Michael's attention was the Jalapeño infused vodka. He had a Bloody Mary and it was one of the best he has had. We plan to go back there before we head back to...

The birds were plentiful, as well, and a number of fishermen were braving the sharp wind. The whelk shells were hiding today, unfortunately. The was one nice bottle from Trinidad/Tobago and one bottle...

Jan 10, 2016 - Beach Camping

Leaving Victoria, we took U.S. 77 south, then turned off to drive east to Corpus Christi. Finally, we took the causeway out to North Padre Island and our first major destination, Padre Island National Seashore. Once again, I whipped out that handy senior discount card for the national parks. The way we travel, that little thing is plastic gold! Our admission was free! And, camping was...
