Dec 28, 2012 - Getting Further South!!!

Well, this trip has certainly been interesting. We were awakened about 3AM by a thunderstorm in Texarkana. That wasn't so bad but it continued to pour the rest of the night resulting in a pretty good flood around our trailer in the morning. With a continuing steady rain, it was a real joy to pack up, roll in the slide outs and pick up the hose and electric cords. But once that was done we were off and enjoyed drizzle and gloom (see the picture) until about noon. I should also mention that the temperature has not risen above 34 since we left...

Apr 17, 2012 - Poor Grumbles Has an Ouch

There we were cruising down the road and feeling relieved for having driven Tiny through the middle of Houston and mix-mastering our way onto highway 59 north when we decided to stop for a lunch break in New Caney, Texas. We ate lunch, stretched our legs, got back into Grumbles, started him back up and we accelerated to pull Tiny out of the parking area onto the on ramp to get back onto highway 59. Something didn’t sound or feel right! No power! Grumbles can’t seem to get enough “oomph” to shift out of third gear (regardless of me having...

Apr 9, 2011 - New Caney, Texas

Today we moved to New Caney, which is just north of the city of Houston. It is very hot and very, very humid. It is about 35 degrees (about 93 F) but the humidity makes it feel much hotter. My poor old refrigerator is not able to cope and cannot keep things cold. I hope it will be ok when I go north. I don’t have air conditioning in this trailer. I have never needed it before. I will be heading north to cooler weather in a couple of days. I will survive this but I don’t know if my refrigerator will or not.

Mar 25, 2010 - Did Aliens Get Them?

Howdy from New Caney!! No, the aliens didn't get us. I have just had a bad case of the lazies. We are presently located at Forest Retreat RV Park in New Caney, TX. We left Tiki Island on Feb. 13th for a couple of reasons, the main one being the weather. As most of the south this past winter, it was cold, windy, and rainy. So we decided, the heck with it. We hooked up the house to the truck and motored on down the highway to Mission, TX. Like I have always said, "One nice part about fulltime RVing, if you don't like your neighbors, you can...

Jan 5, 2010 - Belated Happy New Year

Belated Happy New Year, Shari, Moe, and I are now at Forest Retreat RV Park in New Caney, TX. We moved down here last Wednesday and will be here through the month of January. New Caney is 25 to 30 miles north of Houston. We came to this area to visit Shari's cousin Jerry Dusenbery and his wife Cheryl. They live about 12 mile south of here in a suburb of Houston called Kingwood. Jerry is a retired Project Manager for Shell Oil and has turned into somewhat of a golf pro. I came down to take lessons. (Not that I need them of course.) "How is...

Jan 20, 2008 - Super Dooper Disappointment

We moved to a small suburb just north and a bit east of Houston - New Caney Tx We came here because we found a Green Bay Packer fan club in nearby Humble Texas. http://www.cheddarheadpackhouston.com We watched the game with a whole bunch of crazy Packer fans. During each commercial they played their own music - all Wisconsin related stuff - "Like the Bears Still Suck". They had cheers for almost every aspect of the game - led by their own Cheerleader equiped with sound system. The entire place was decorated in Green and Gold, the food was...
