Oct 27, 2014 - Back on the Road

It was up early on the 27th, as we prepared to get on the road toward New Orleans. We finally got all of our goodbyes said and left Hurst about 11:30am. The wind was fairly fierce and we were both tired, so stopped shy of our goal, which had been Shreveport. We found a wonderful RV park in Longview, TX, and called it a day.

Sep 19, 2014 - Duck Commanders

We have been in West Monroe LA for 2 days. Went over to the Duck Commanders but didn't see any of the Robbison family. We did see 2 bearded people on the loading dock taking a break but I didn't recognize them. Moved today to Texas but getting here was tough. We had to detour twice off I20. The Interstate was shut down both times apparently from wrecks that we couldn't see. You talking about backed up. Once in Louisiana then in Texas. It was a long 161 miles.

Apr 2, 2013 - On the road again.........

March 30. Departed The Escapee Park, Livingston, Tx. after breakfast at the Care Center. We got a good breakfast under our belts and hit the road about 8:00 a.m. Drove to a park outside of Longview, Texas where Jack and Danielle were parked. Sure was good to see them again. They are getting a new truck and a bed built on the back, like ours, with a smart car to be perched on the top. This is exciting for them. Planning, dreaming, and now it is in for the paint. Wow, a few more days and they should be ready to "hit the road" also. March 31,...

Hither 'N' Yon 2013

Jan 5, 2011 - Longview, TX

We arrived in Longview, Texas today. It is about 50 miles into Texas from LA. We left Vicksburg (it's right at the La. border and drove across La through Monroe & Shreveport to Longview. The RV park is only 9 months old and is very nice. It's also a Passport Park and only cost us $16.50. The owners and camp hosts couldn't be friendlier. You can tell it's getting warmer we are starting to pick up bugs on the windshield and tonight we had a fly in the coach. This is also the first park we've stayed that has a lot of RV's staying here - many...

Back to Arizona

Dec 11, 2010 - Denham Springs, LA to Longview, TX

Traveling with Carol, Lou & Beau ................. We are getting closer to our destination. A ping was in my heart when we hit the Texas border. As a matter of fact, the roads became much smoother! Louisiana and California had the roughest roads so far. They probably did not qualify for one of those 'shovel ready' projects. :-) Too bad! Fernbrook Park, where we stayed, was the newest park in East Texas - actually opened just six months ago. It had great concreted pads and paved roads throughout. The buildings were bright and new. Driving...

Girl on the Road

Dec 2, 2008 - A Visit to Longview

We have made it safely to Longview and are preparing for a whirlwind week of annual appointments (starting with a fasting lab appointment first thing in the morning). We are also looking forward to visiting my parents tomorrow for a delayed Thanksgiving celebration. Hopefully our nine days in the area will allow us time to catch up with all of our Northeast Texas friends before we head back to be with our son, his fiancée and her family for an after Christmas celebration. When we first arrived to Longview our foremost stop was Jake’s Feed...

Mar 25, 2008 - Longview Again

Here we are, back in Longview, TX. We hated coming back home to stacks of boxes and moving clutter, while there is still so much dazzling springtime to explore, but alas we need to finally finish up closing this place down for good so we can be on the road with no “stick and brick” obligations. Mark and Julia are in the process of filling out the paperwork for their apartment so we are starting to see the “light at the end of the tunnel” regarding a final moving date. We are trying to coordinate our move-out date so that the furniture and...

Mar 10, 2008 - A real RV park!

I once again consulted "Woodall's" and "The Next Exit", and located a nice RV park called Shallow Creek RV Park, in Gladewater, Texas, which was near Longview. I called and made reservations for that evening, and we arrived around 7:00 p.m. We were finally going to have the full experience of residing for the evening in a real, live RV park! We were so excited! J.D. pulled us into our space, plugged us in to the electrical port, and leveled Big Blue. The living room slide out came out last, and we enjoyed a quiet evening in Gladewater,...

Feb 12, 2008 - Temporarily Back in Longview, TX

We made it back to Longview yesterday evening and walked into our half empty “stick and brick” residence, complete with stacks of boxes, only to be reminded that we still need to finish clearing things out. I wanted to turn around and head right back to Clyde, but Willie blocked the door and reminded me that once we get all our “stuff” packed up and distributed then we will be on the road completely fulltime without this moving-out task shadowing us anymore. I was very pleasantly surprised to arrive at Vogt yesterday and they actually had...

Dec 11, 2007 - Making Ready

Here we are, trying to sort through "stuff" accumulated over 22 years of marriage and figure out what to do with it all so we can start our lives as fulltimers next month. We checked on the price of storge units today and found them to be a bit more expensive than we had orginally anticipated. This means we need to get rid of as much "stuff" as possible so we won't need as large a storage unit. But what about our family antiques? Mark's baby clothes? Our beloved books? The doll collection? The depression glass? Aaargh, the list goes...

May 4, 2007 - Tyler, Texas

Friday - 5-4-07 Had a tremendous thunderstorm last night, which knocked out power for about 9,000 people in the Metairie section of New Orleans. But we were safe and dry, with power, in our unit. YEA! We thought the storm had passed so we headed down the highway, got into the thunderstorm just outside of Mandeville that lasted almost to Alexandria. We made pretty good time and we're now stopped, have planted our "feet" so to speak in Tyler, TX. A great camp ground with WiFi , hot tub, and swimming pool which we shall give a try after...
