May 19, 2014 - Microwave Detour

Life is always full of surprises. Our surprise yesterday morning was a broken bracket on the frame that holds our built-in microwave in place. We couldn’t tell what exactly was broken or how it broke, but our microwave was no longer secure, it was bouncing and sliding in its “cubby” on one side and I was worried it would break loose on the other side and come crashing out of the frame completely. The frame is riveted in place, so taking the microwave out was not really an option like it would have been if the frame had been installed with...

Mar 24, 2012 - It's gonna be a bright bright sunshiny day

We stayed at Lake Whitney State Park the weekend of March 24-27, 2012. This is a beautiful park. Big lots for tent and RV camping. There were beautiful bluebonnets everywhere! The park is super clean and the staff was very nice and helpful. We hiked from our campsite down to the lake...it was a bit of a walk but so worth it. Part of the hike we walked thru the woods and all of a sudden the woods opened up to a huge field of bluebonnets. It was AMAZING! We saw lots of amazing wildlife. The turkey's were everywhere. It was mating season so we...

Fortunately, we were able to get a site that has the least wind impact on our slideout awnings. But first, I will detail how we ended up in this "perfect" site. The nice lady in reception was kind enough to assign us a spot with our MH faced in a SE direction for wind protection. I wanted full East, but she couldn't seem to find that kind of...

Dream On

Nov 28, 2006 - Lake Whitney Texas

Lake Whitney is South of Fort Worth Texas just off I35 freeway. This lake like the other lakes supplying the Dallas area is very low but boats can still have access to the lake. Photos 1 and 2 are a couple of views of the lake in the town of Whitney area. The 3rd photo is at a marina just North of Whitney. A completely covered fishing hole. Talk abot the life of Riley! The fishing facility is part of the marina and they have free fishing for seniors on Wednesdays. Of course we don't have our fishing equipment with us.
