Dec 18, 2009 - TTN Medina Lake, near San Antonio, TX

The 188 mile drive from Lake Amistad to Thousand Trails (TTN) Medina Lake, northwest of San Antonio, was easy and beautiful as it is through the countryside, no freeways, just the way we like it. Lake Amistad provided many hours of enjoyment, it is a place we’ll return to when we want to catch some bass. Coming to TTN Medina Lake is like coming home. We really like this little place, it’s got a country atmosphere. Before making the last turn into the area where the preserve is located, there's a feed store, it's becoming a tradition to stop...

Jan 17, 2009 - Medina Lake TTN park

I really can't believe it has been almost a week since we've done an entry. We left New Mexico on Tuesday and drove a little over 450 miles. We spent the night in a rest area just outside of Sonora, Texas. We would have kept going, it was still early and Ken wasn't tired, but the new season of American Idol was starting and we had to watch it!!! After a pretty good nights sleep we hit the road again heading for Boerne, Texas ( it's pronounced burnie - gotta love the Texans ) We made a quick stop at Ron Hoover RV center to have some awning...

May 29, 2008 - Lake Medina

Finally got a chance to get the boat in the water. We launched at the county park on Lake Medina, Texas. This lake is the closest lake to Dave and Chen Mei's house in San Antonio. The water was very low due to local drought conditions, and we had a little trouble getting the boat off the trailer. Fortunately, there was a friendly Texan there to give us a little much needed advice. After we had a fantastic day of tubing and water skiing!

Apr 20, 2008 - Driving to San Antonio

Sunday, April 20, 2008. Thousand Trails Campground, Whitney, TX Driving to San Antonio Jonathan's DS alarm went off at 5:30 this morning. I kept hearing it but couldn't figure out what it was. Each time it would go off it would get a little louder so I finally realized what it was and got up and turned it off at 5:50. I was going to get up at 6:15 to start getting ready. Tom had his alarm set for 6:30. We finally rolled out of bed at that point. We started closing things up. Tom went out to unhook everything. We didn't wake Jonathan up...

Dec 21, 2007 - TTN Lake Medina, NW of San Antonio, TX

Rebecca drove much of the way, 180 miles, this time as well. Dave took over for the last 30 miles to pull into the park and the space. Rebecca is getting to be a terrific driver, the more she drives the more confident she becomes and therefore the more she wants to drive. On our final few miles we stopped at the local feed store to get several 40lb bags of deer corn and squirrel food. We like to feed the deer each morning and evening while sittng at the livingroom window sipping on coffee watching them. We'll be spending Christmas AND New...

Oct 18, 2007 - San Antonio River Walk - & then some

We left around 9:00 and headed for San Antonio. It was overcast and cool at first, turned out to be a record heat day. The Alamo was ok - Too Commercialized. The River Walk was great just got a little hot and we took the dogs in the stroller. Too much work. And by the way dogs are not allowed in the Alamo - we got kicked out. San Antonio is in the Hill Country and is different from anywhere else. Seems very rocky and roads are very curvy and hilly. Margaret has learned a few new words for the driver. Campground is loaded with hungry skinny...
