Apr 20, 2011 - Ride the Ducks!

We left fairly early to get to the Ride the Ducks in Galveston. They had to have six adults and we were the first so we went for a walk along the seawall. Went back about 15 minutes before the tour was to begin, and there was enough to almost fill up the duck! Apparently I am not just Clueless in Ceres, but also in Galveston to not realize what this ride/tour would do to my hair - can you say duck tail 'do?. Check out the picture. So bad, we stopped at a CVS and I bought a hat. We were disappointed. We expected the humor-filled tours...

Apr 19, 2011 - Relatives and Galveston Island

Went into town and visited with Sam's aunt, uncle, and cousin. Spent about 4 1/2 hours visiting. The aunt wanted the uncle to take us into Galveston and drive us around, but Sam and I declined (we really didn't want his elderly uncle, not in the best of health) driving us down the road. We left promising to visit tomorrow. We decided that although it was later in the day than when we planned to go to Galveston, it was only about 10 miles away, so off we went, after taking the scenic route to the interstate. Got to the seawall and first...

Apr 18, 2011 - La Marque, Texas

Another uneventful morning as we left for the 4 1/2-5 hour drive south to La Marque (just north of Galveston Island). We had planned a little stop here to visit Sam's Aunt, Uncle, and Cousin whom we haven't seen in years. We should have been here about 2 pm..should have. Remember the lower bay doors that open by themselves as we're traveling? We've had two different ones do that and I knew after the first time it happened, that it wasn't a matter of Sam not locking them because I started checking them myself. And when they popped open, they...

Apr 30, 2008 - Bad Day With Rainbows

From Oasis RV Resort - LaMarque, Texas We arrived back at Oasis RV Resort Monday about noon and it has been a very busy three days. We had made appointments for Vet, groomer and MD on Tuesday while here for the planned two night stay before going on to Lake Texana State Park in Edna. Little did we know, two nights would turn to three; hopefully at this point no more. We awoke Tuesday morning set to make our first appointment at the Vet for 10 AM. While I was getting dressed, Rudy ran over to McDonald's for breakfast. Then it started to go...

Feb 2, 2008 - Full Time Plans Continue

Still from Oasis RV & Resort - LaMarque, TX May 2007 and just 7 1/2 months left to Rudy's retirement. Wedding plans are taking the majority of our time and thoughts at this point. However, knowing we have to get rid of a lot of "stuff" I began going through the house and trailer making three catagories; 1) Items Needed for Fulltime, 2) Garage Sale and Give Away Items, & 3) Need Till House is Sold. Since our life had us camping on a regular basis; 417 total nights with 20,017 pulling miles since 2001, the trailer was completely furnished...

Jan 15, 2008 - Plans Begin To Form

From Oasis RV & Resort in LaMarque, TX - South of Houston. As alluded to in my Home Page summary, our year of preparation began February 2007 when I gave up my "Stick House" mentality. Reading other sites on this website, we knew we had many things to accomplish before Rudy retired on December 31. The first item of concern was what recreational vehicle we wanted to call home. We had already been doing some research as we were planning to upgrade from our 2002 32' Cameo Fifth Wheel by Carriage even if we only went to part-time RVing. We...
