Jan 17, 2013 - Cen-Tex Campout at La Grange
THURDAY By ten o’clock this morning I was on my way to La Grange to meet up with my Cen-Tex RV pals for our first campout of the year. The weather is predicted to be nice through the week end. This time we had only a dozen participants. I guess the recent cold weather discouraged some of the others. FRIDAY Today I had lunch with Annette Dean, Ann Poole and Jeanette Lowell at Bistro 108 just off the town square. It was warm enough for us to eat outside on the patio, where we sat in the sunshine and out of the wind (which was just a gentle...

THURSDAY This morning I stopped at Discount Tires to have them check the tire pressure. Two of them had lost quite a bit of air since last month. I had to wait quite a long time before they could finish. They re-balanced the two tires. They told me that I need to have the extensions replaced. They don’t sell them but said that they could install them for me. It was 12:30 by the time I left the tire store but I didn’t take time to eat lunch. I ate a little snack after arriving at the RV park in La Grange. Tonight we had our usual bountiful...

Oct 28, 2011 - Coopers Farm
We are doing another retreat at Coopers Farms this week-end. This is a father-daughter retreat. The girls are so cute. There are 10 tents set up. When we did the father-son one nobody stayed in a tent but now that we have girls there are 10 staying in tents.

Jan 27, 2011 - Cen-Tex LoW Campout at La Grange
THURSDAY This morning I was on the road a little before 11:00. On the way out of town I stopped in Del Valley to feed Daisy. I arrived at the campground in La Grange around 12:45. The weather was very nice. After getting set up, Jan and I went to the nearby Subway for lunch; we had arrived at the same time. Tonight we had our usual abundant potluck dinner. We were very pleased to have three visitors: Nancy Riley (a neighbor in Austin), Charlie Rose from San Antonio and Leo Mullward from Lichfield, Staffordshire, England. STATS Route: TX 71...

Mar 19, 2010 - La Grange, TX
/// Friday - March 19, 2010 A Travel Day: We had an overnight low temperature of 65 degrees. We were up a little earlier than usual in preperation of leaving the Pioneer RV Resort. The departure routine went without any issues. By 9:00 AM we were on our way to the ferry crossing. Our good friends, Danny & Linda right behind us. We had a short 15 minute wait at the ferry and we were the first rig loaded onto our ferry. Yoda seemed to be very interested in this exciting new adventure. After our crossing we pulled off the to the roadside to...

Jan 21, 2010 - Cen-Tex LoW Campout at LaGrange
This morning I headed to LaGrange for the Cen-Tex LoW campout. I was looking forward to it because I haven’t done very much lately. Besides, it’s always fun to see my LoW buddies. We have a good time together. We were happy for the dry, mild weather this time. I learned a valuable lesson about the propane system. Right after arriving at LaGrange, I discovered that my water heater would not stay lit. It would light but would go out immediately. My refrigerator and furnace would not run either. I made sure the propane was turned on and that...

Jan 18, 2008 - To La Grange Campout
My RV repairs and maintenance were finally completed about 3:30 today and now I am $2,054.19 poorer. I'm appalled that it took them so long and that it cost so much. The labor charge alone is $95 per hour. I arrived at the Colorado Landing RV Park about 5:30. My camping buddies were patiently waiting for me so we could all go to dinner together. They're a wonderful bunch of people. I quickly hooked up to electricity and turned off Sweet Pea's switch and we took off for Fayetteville. I had blackened fish for dinner, which was very...

Jan 21, 2007 - Cen-Tex LoW Campout at La Grange
Thursday afternoon I drove to La Grange to the Loners on Wheels campout at Colorado Landing RV Park. Due to colder-than-normal weather, most of our members did not make it, but 13 of us did. Marilyn was our host and had planned several interesting things for us to do but the cold, rainy weather put a damper on our activities. We still had a good time, though, playing table games, watching DVD movies ("RV" and "Grumpy Old Men") and just enjoying each other's company - and eating and eating and .... I got back to Berry Springs RV Park in...

Jan 20, 2005 - Cen-Tex LoW Campout - Colorado Landing RV Park
There was a larger-than-expected attendance for this campout – 19 members and six visitors, three of whom joined us. Georgia Lewis, our wagon master, was expecting only about 16 rigs. The park manager made sure we all had hookups, doubling several of us up in the campsites and stringing out large extension cords and water hoses to accommodate us. It was quite a sight! Bob Williams did a fish fry. He loves to fish and to cook! During the summer at home in Indiana he stocks his freezer with his catch and then, in the winter when he visits...

Jan 19, 2001 - 1997 April 15 (A.M.) - Daystar Tour - La Grange - Monument Hill
Today I joined a Daystar bus tour, “Backroads and Bluebonnets” directed by Earl and Darlene Teeters. This morning we picked up the Texas Pioneer Trail south of Waco. We saw many wildflower meadows along the way. After lunch we arrived at the Bluebonnet Trail and continued on through Bastrop to LaGrange. There we visited the Monument Hill and Kreische Brewery State Historical Parks. On a beautiful bluff overlooking the Colorado River stands a 48-foot monument, erected in 1936 to honor the Texas soldiers who were massacred at Salado Creek by...
