Jan 18, 2001 - 1994 October 2 - Kingsland Archeological Center

Today I visited the Kingsland Archeological Center, where archeologists were digging. It is on a ten-acre site in the woods in Burnet County on the banks of Lake LBJ. The site was discovered in 1988 when vandals were caught stealing artifacts. Since then, excavations have uncovered 100,000 artifacts dating as far back as 10,000 years. The Texas Historical Commission has declared the site a State Archeological Landmark. The Center consists of exhibit areas, a field school excavation area on display and a trail with interpretive displays.
