Nov 19, 2008 - Only 27 miles today! ☺
. Well, we just had the latest in a series of one word days…AWESOME! This had to be the laziest start to a travel day that we have ever experienced. We were in no hurry whatsoever to get out of bed, get through breakfast, or pack for our travel day (if you call 27 miles a travel day!). We didn’t even fill our journey mugs with coffee, instead enjoying our nice fresh brew while browsing the Internet and checking out the travel progress of many friends. We completed our morning activities and packing by 11 AM and pulled onto the highway for...

Oct 13, 2008 - Under the BIG Texas Sky
Howdy Ya’ll! After 5 days on the road and over 1400 miles later, we have finally reached our winter destination, Kerrville, TX right in the heart of the Texas hill country. We are here for a “New Horizons” (our make of rv) rally and will be hooking up with a group of other owners from Oct. 15-20. We are less than an hour northwest of San Antonio. The rally should be fun. The program will include educational seminars, workshops, possibly group site-seeing side trips, food (catered dinners and potlucks), drinks and socializing. The rv park is...

Jun 27, 2008 - Bad Driving Day- We make it to Kerrville, Texas
Leaving the Hard Rock, we hit the top of parking garage and total out our satellite dish. On the road a board flies out of a truck and hits the passenger side tires. Our transmission or alternator starts going out. We drive through and make it to Kerrville Texas and sleep in a rest stop.

Apr 17, 2008 - Kerrville, TX
(Elena Writing) We slept in this morning. In the past couple days we lost two hours but our body clock hasn’t adjusted accordingly. There were four more RVs that arrived during the night, bringing the total to 15 RVs. That’s a record for drycamping at Wally World. We continued east on I-10 from Fort Stockton to Kerrville, TX. It was an uneventful drive. There were two RVs stopped on the roadside and Ron stopped to assist. In both cases, his help was not needed. We saw patches of wildflowers along the interstate but nothing spectacular....

Apr 1, 2008 - Rockport to Kerrville
We left Rockport with our usual late start to head west to Tucson. Winds have been very heavy for a week and we have been concerned pulling such a big rig, but today we have been blessed with light winds and traffic. I was looking forward to enjoying beatiful Texas wildflowers but the blooms are very sparse due to a dry fall and winter. There are only very few flowers and the only Bluebonnets are in the San Antonio area along the Expressways. The skies are clear and there are lots of lazy hawks riding the thermals! There is an exodus of...

Mar 10, 2008 - Kerrville, TX
Mar. 10, 2008 Kerrville, TX We have a site booked at the Guadalupe River RV Park. This park really is on the River. A very nice park, located just west of the city of Kerrville. There is some traffic noise from the road nearby - but the noise is not an issue with us and we enjoy walking Yoda along the back of the river. While here we also made a day trip north to Fredericksburg and toured the Admiral Nimitz museum (National Museum of the Pacific War), the Pres. George Bush Gallery and the Plaza of the Presidents. We also hiked to the top of...

Feb 20, 2008 - Lynda’s thoughts and technology overload issues
As I sit here on the balcony of our B&B in San Antonio looking at the River Walk, I thought I would jot a few thoughts down for our journal. (Yes, our home is back in the shop and we came to San Antonio for three days!) We originally started our journal to keep family and friends informed as to what we were doing, since most folks thought we were nuts for becoming full-time RVers. Then Howard of RV Dreams fame put our link on his website and 475 hits later we realized how interested new RVers and those planning to become full-time RVers are...

Jan 9, 2008 - Kerrville, TX - Back to the Hill Country
We said goodbye to Mae & Utah, hooked up the Jeep, and hit the road to Kerrville. It was a windy drive, albeit a short one, but the fuel mileage took a beating. We took a couple of breaks for Foxy and a lunch break for us. This was our first driving day since I started my weight-loss plan and I am happy to say I did really well....no mindless snacking while Joe was driving on down the road. We topped off fuel...a data point for the new year...$3.29 a gallon for diesel. Our last fill-up of unleaded for the Jeep was $2.90. We arrived safely...

Dec 8, 2007 - The Run To Kerrville Tx
We left on this Saturday morning to an early fog. We jumped on I 35 South toward Dallas. It was a smooth run until we were north of Denton Texas. The Saturday weekend warrior traffic picked up, so we headed west on I 20 north of Fort Worth and found state road 311 that headed into Johnson City Texas. This town is the birthplace of President Lyndon Johnson. It is a small Texas town that is pretty non-descript. We caught state road 290 to Fredericksburg. This is a town where everything has a German name and theme. We enjoyed reading all of...

Dec 1, 2007 - Kerrville, Texas
As I often do on travel days I woke up early, and after breakfast decided to go ahead and hit the road early, so at about 6:00am I was on the road heading toward Kerrville, Texas. Lots of wind most of the way, at times enough that I considered stopping for a while, but didn't. The wind was coming from the south directly into the passenger side of the rig which puts an awful lot of pressure on the big awning. While driving along on I10 east of Fort Stockton I just happened to notice in the right mirror that there was a lot of movement on...

Nov 26, 2007 - Kerrville, TX - The Beautiful Hill Country
It was bitterly cold when we got up and we were ready to head to warmer climes. Fortunately, it didn't take us very long to get rolling and we drove out of the snow just a short distance east of Fort Stockton. After a couple of rest stops for Foxy and a lunch break for us, we arrived at Buckhorn Lake RV Resort in the early afternoon. This is a beautiful park and we're settled in for a week or so...to do nothing except rest, relax, and enjoy the warmer temperatures.

Nov 1, 2007 - Heading straight for the barn
Again this morning, we were up and out very early for our departure from Lubbock. We had decided to make a big push for our final destination, Kerrville, TX. The winds this morning were CALM! Passing through Lubbock during the early and dark morning rush hour (glad I don't have to do that for a living anymore!) was not what I would normally want, but the Texas drivers were diligent and avoided contact along the city's loop highway. Passing south of Lubbock, the rising sun revealed vast expanses of cotton in various stages of growth and...
