May 9, 2013 - Crawfish revisited

Drove through the green part of Texas today with full grown trees and even growing corn for our viewing pleasure. Campground a bit disappointing but my bride found a restaurant on Trip Advisor named "Crazy Alan's Swamp Shack" and that name was like bait to these Gypsy's. Best of all, they had crawfish so we didn't have to wait for Louisiana. Another 3 pounds for her and five for me so the trip crawfish poundage has now reached forty five and will increase next week. We had some gator bites for an appetizer and they were fantastic! Another...

Jan 22, 2013 - Kemah Boardwalk, Kemah, Texas

Located just 20 miles from downtown Houston, the Kemah Boardwalk has become the perfect family getaway. There are festivals and concerts; watch the shrimp boats, sailboats and pleasure craft as they cruise through the channel. It is home to many different restaurants as well as amusements for children and adults. Boardwalk Bullet is the coolest coaster on the coast - 96' tall wooden rollercoaster; 92-foot vertical drop; travels at speeds of more than 50mph (it was not running when we were there, but I doubt if we would have rode it anyway)....

May 19, 2012 - We are parked at our site for the next 3 months.

About 2 miles from our RV park, was Kemah Boardwalk. It had a roller coaster, train, and a few other rides, that I don't remember their names, but you can get the idea from the pics. We did the train ride, and went for a great seafood dinner at one of the on site restaurants. We came back here a few times during our stay in this part of Texas. In about a 3 mile radius, we had a Super Target, Super Walmart, Home Depot, and many fine local eateries, along with Chile's, IHOP, Whataburger,(upscale Mikey D's, using real Angus Meat for...

Oct 3, 2011 - The Porter's visit Kemah

Fred O and Sharla decided to extend their stay. Woohoo again!! We decided to check out the area so we visited Kemah Boardwalk yesterday. I'm not sure how this will ever get old. Sharla is now trying to convince Fred O that the need a motor home. Unfortunately, that option doesn't appear to be feasible for them so meantime, they will just enjoy spending time in ours. We had a wonderful day. Watched some Cowboy football at an outdoor bar (that's tough to do in Texan's country but Sharla convinced the bar owner to change the channel for us)....

Nov 29, 2009 - Meeting Frank Ellsworth

We had the privilege of meeting Frank Ellsworth today, and joined him for lunch in Kemah, Tx just outside of Dickinson, TX where he lives. We spent the afternoon getting to know how he and Wendy met, and just talked the afternoon away. We are glad we made the trip over to see him, and wish we had had more time to spend there but we had to get back to our Ginger. Until next time, God bless all of you. Fondly Steve and Nancy

Oct 19, 2009 - Kemah, TX

On Monday morning, we drove to Houston. We had to make a stop at a Winnebago dealer to have our furnace fixed. It was under warranty and in a few hours we were on our way again. We stayed at a campground between Houston and Galveston. The first night we went to Kemah, located on the Gulf of Mexico, which has a great boardwalk with lots of restaurants and amusements. We enjoyed watching sailboats and shrimp boats pass by and then we had a nice seafood dinner. We hadn't seen salt water since we left home so that was lots of fun for us.

Mar 22, 2008 - Houston area

Houston is the largest city in Texas and has the largest freeway interchange in the United States! I heard over 4 million people live hear! We stayed at Lakeside RV Park in Clear Lake Shores, about 25 miles south of down town Houston and 5 miles from NASA's Johnson Space Center. We spent one whole day at the Space Center and still did't see it all. The guided tram tours took us behind the scenes of NASA. We toured Mission Control, the Astronaut Training Facility, and Saturn V; as well as the Starship Gallery Artifact Museum where you can...
