Mar 11, 2013 - Heading back to Texas via Sabine Pass and Port Bolivar

March 11, 2013-Time to pack up and head home. We did have one casualty last night: our campfire in a can, which had been with us for Rv travel since sometime in 2008, going to Canada, Alaska and the Fall Colors, was a little too close to our parking spot and I crunched it with the 1 ton truck. It may be salvageable, but I am going to need some serious hammer work to get it back in shape. We took down the trailer in 40 degree weather that was clear and windy. Feb 11, 2013 - Galveston Island S.P.

We had one of the shortest travel days in our history today. We moved to the Galveston Island State Park, only about 9 miles. We loved the sites where we were but they only had a few days available. The park is located in the small town of Jamaica Beach. We got the end site for $25 a day with our Texas State Park Pass, it would have been $35 a day without the pass. That’s $10 back already.:-) This park has a lot of marsh between us and the beach, but it’s still awesome. I will let the pictures tell the rest of the story.

Oct 3, 2010 - Trip to old Galveston

Went into Galveston this afternoon. Colin desperately wanted to visit the army and navy surplus store - having fond memories of the amount of stuff, on shelves to the ceiling and the musty smell! When we used to take the kids in there we seemed to spend ages so that they could try on hats and uniform jackets - luckily there were only the two of us so we could escape much faster - before the odor knocked us over. On the way out were some photos of damage done by Hurricane Ike - the whole place was under water - all the clothes were floating...
