Feb 24, 2013 - Today we Deputized ourselves in an effort to help the Texas Rangers

If you are reading this on Sunday night instead of watching the Oscars, check back tomorrow for pictures. Mike Bliss is our picture manager and he went to bed early tonight. I think we have worn him out with questions about the camper and the trip journal. I have to back up to our New Orleans visit because we both forgot that we got caught in the end of a police chase. In our quest for a self lead tour of the 9th ward, we ended up in some parts of town that were questionable. We kept seeing a helicopter circling and thought there was some...

Dec 3, 2012 - Gonzales,TX

Gonzales, TX, which most of us think is in the middle of no where, is halfway between the best barbeque in Texas (in Luling) and the best beer in Texas (in Shiner). We drove 150 miles north from Port Aransas through some very quiet country. Their were very few other cars on the road and the land rolls a little, so you couldn't quite see for miles, but for the mile we could see there were no houses, no cars, no power lines, but a scattering of cattle and oil pumpjacks. After a week of cajun seafood we had "the best BBQ in Texas" in Luling...

Jan 16, 2010 - Sunshine & Hiking

Got up this morning to sunshine and as you will see I need it. Went for about a 4 mile hike and saw lots of deer and fast moving water. The one picture is or was a road down to and across a bridge. This bridge has to be 10ft. under water. we just walked over that bridge 2 days ago. The trails are great in this park and easy to walk. Bev and Lexie are out doing them again.

IT's been raining ever since we got here so today we are going to put some miles on the jeep. Headed for Guadalupe River State Park. Camp sites are not bad. There is about six that we picked out if we come here. The river is really cool, with high banks on the other side of the park. Next we headed for Austin, which is about 70 miles from here. On the way we saw another park we stopped at. Blanco State Park. It's got great water falls and a nice campground with sewer. On our way to Austin. Austin is were I lived out on Lake Travis And ask Bev...

Jan 14, 2010 - Wheels Down & Rolling

Today is a day of travel. It's a nasty day to be on the road, but you have to take the bad with the good. We will travel to Palmetto State Park near Gonzales Texas. Gonzales Tx. founded in 1825 as the Lexington of Tx. The campground is supposed to be a lot like the tropics. It does have many dwarf palmetto and in some areas does resemble the tropics,it has other characteristics that are beautiful. As you will see. Set up camp and already took a short hike in the rain. Campsites are narrow and right now muddy. 18 dollars a night with sewer.

Nov 4, 2006 - DAY FOUR - CenTex LoW Trip - Gonzales

This morning we all traveled to Gonzales to the Lake Wood State Park. Right after lunch we visited the Gonzales Pioneer Village Living History Center. It is a collection of 1800s houses and buildings from Gonzales County. Each structure was donated to the village and has been moved and restored. Special events are staffed by costumed volunteers who provide information about the buildings and demonstrate skills and crafts necessary to pioneer life. After we left the Village we had an early dinner before returning to Lake Wood. We sat under...
