Mar 28, 2014 - Marc & Annette St Clair Visit

Marc and Annette came down for a long weekend to visit with us in Glen Rose. We went to the wildlife park, big rock park and geo-caching. I had never been geo-caching before and it was great fun. It's like a treasure hunt with GPS coordinates. We ended up in a couple of cemeteries with a "haunted" church. It was a beautiful day to be outside and being in good company. There are several of our neighbors that have PVC flag poles that swing in the wind. On our other rig, we mounted a flag pole on the fifth wheel hitch. On the Trilogy there...

Mar 21, 2014 - Back to Glen Rose

Robert’s procedure got delayed and so we had to wait forever at the VA hospital. We got one prescription beforehand and then thought we would be smart and do an address change with the VA. The lady told us that it wouldn’t take effect for 24 hours, so we thought it would be safe. Apparently not! When we went back after the procedure to pick up the rest of the medicines, the order had gotten cancelled because of the address change. We had to wait for them to call the doctor and reorder the prescriptions. The dogs were in the car from 10am...

Mar 17, 2014 - Fishing & Wildlife center

The boys went fishing in the morning. No bites, but had fun. Then we went to Fossil Rim Wildlife Park in the afternoon. It was an amazing drive through Fossil Rim Wildlife Center. The first thing we saw was a herd of wildebeest running through the valley. Then we saw the park staff in a white pickup following the herd. One of the wildebeest was hurt and they had shot him with a tranquilizer dart. He was trying his best to stay up with his herd. Finally he fell over and they put him in the back of the truck to take him to the vet building....

Mar 16, 2014 - Walk about and Walmart

The wind blew really hard last night! We could hear the awnings over the slides rattling all night. It is cold and rainy again. We took a walk in the afternoon around the park. There are three rivers that surround the park. We went to Granbury to Walmart to pick up some groceries and fishing licenses for the boys. Spaghetti for dinner – we all made pigs of ourselves.

Mar 15, 2014 - Move Day

Move day! Grant is going with us to Glen Rose, TX. He had a campout on Friday evening, so we had to wait for him to get to Abe’s RV Park at 11am. We had everything all packed up and were waiting at the front gate. It is cool and rainy. We drove to Ardmore, OK and ate at Two Frogs Grill about 2pm. The traffic is very heavy and it is raining off and on. The traffic was backed up at the Texas/Oklahoma border for about 3 miles for no apparent reason. At the turn off by I-35W in Dallas, we saw a horse trailer that had rolled down the embankment....

Aug 25, 2013 - Glen Rose, TX

We wanted to go to Abilene for a few days just because we hadn’t been there – (through there maybe) but had not spent any time there. So we made that a stop on our way through TX. The highlight of our stay was going to an AWESOME place called “Frontier Texas.” It featured life-sized holographic figures. You really do have to see this to believe it! They absolutely look like real life people with their talking, hand gestures, head movement, etc. You “meet” some of the real people who lived and died on the Texas frontier. Also they had a...

Jun 7, 2012 - Dinoasur Valley Park TX

We stayed one night in the Dinoasure Valley State Park in Glen Rose TX and Larry got to see the tracks of the big ones in the river bed. We have stayed in the Cleburne State Park for the last two days and the internet connection there was very bad so I am catching up. We are now in an RV Park with FULL hookups and free internet in Denton TX. I am beginning to like the RV park mutch better than the state parks and the cost is about the same in TX. We visited yesterday with old friends in Cleburne. REally enjoyed seeing Brenda and Jerry Webb...

Go West Trip 2012

Mar 29, 2012 - Glen Rose

After getting over the shock of the 'clothing optional' RV park we wandered off to Glen Rose which is about 35 miles south west of the Dallas Fort Worth area. A nice relaxing place but sometimes very cold. At the RV park we spotted a really impressive Egyptian Goose. There are heaps more at a nearby golf course. What happened, was years ago some nice lady brought a couple of these Egyptian Geese over from guess where? She managed to leave the cage door open and they escaped to the golf course where they had a great time mating and building...

Mar 15, 2012 - Tres Rios

A short drive brought us to Glen Rose this morning. A land where dinosaurs once roamed. The park is at the confluence of the 3 tributaries mentioned in the photos, therefore Tres Rios! The photos are all taken here at the park. The park is a full fledged resort and it's amazing the number of families here with children. Maybe this is spring break. In the area is Dinosaur State Park, museums on the ancient creatures and even a dig going on in town uncovering these creature's footprints. Then in the midst of prehistoric finds, a museum on the...

Jun 16, 2010 - Dinosaur State Park

Day 6 Dinosaur State Park We made it out this morning :-) Joe & I (and Tim, Swan & Patricia too) were up at 6 AM. We wanted to be sure that when the workers came we could catch them before they started to dig again. They moved the piece of equipment blocking our way and we were able to leave without any more problems. Tim was up at this time for an early morning Bible Study/breakfast he has on Wednesdays. Swan & Patricia were up to go to IHOP where Tim was…for all of us to meet and have breakfast together. Wasn’t that wonderful of them to...

Jun 11, 2009 - Glen Rose Texas

The Courthouse stands where most Courthouses seem to be built, in the center of town square, small shops over time are added, some are two stories tall, providing at one time a small home where the shop owner once lived, now it's used for storage of memories and of things. Glen Rose is no different, it's a small Texan town, one of many I would guess but also quite different then the others as this town central has a uniqueness to it that you wouldn't find elsewhere. The Courthouse is quite massive in size, built in the 1800's, built to...

Nov 28, 2007 - Dinosaur State Park

Headed off today to the Dinosaur State Park by Glen Rose. Here in the Paluxy River you can see fossilized dinosaur tracks. Unfortunately, the narrative descriptions about their origin and place in history are from an evolutionary perspective, which we don't subscribe to. But yet, there is a Creation Evidences Museum nearby refuting such evolutionary claims. We were here several years ago and were allowed on private property at that time, giving us access to an area of the river where we were able to see human footprints inside the dinosaur...
