Oct 31, 2012 - fun in southeast TX

We spent two days with good friends who, like us, once lived in the Dallas area, but have now "flown the coop" for the RV life! Thanks, Doug and Rand, for a great two days in the country and riding the roads around some very pretty countryside! Thanks also for the delicious meals - now come on down to Gulf Shores when we are there so we can reciprocate!

May 4, 2009 - Our second stop - Garrison TX

Monday - We arrived here yesterday, and will spend a few days before heading over to Ft Worth to continue working on the house. Martha Lou's garden is looking really good, she has peas, tomatoes, and some squash. Dale is going to do a few things around the house, and possibly get a storm door and hang it on the front. We unloaded a few things here, mostly some food and toiletries that we don't want to drag around with us for the next few weeks.

Apr 25, 2009 - Friends, music, food...

By Friday evening, almost all the music group were here. There were probably a dozen more RVs, tents and campers besides our four. One last couple arrived on Saturday morning. The time was spent playing music (of course), 4 wheeling, visiting, and eating (of course). This group is so interwoven and related on various levels, I am not even going to try to explain it. It is a diverse group, but all family and music oriented. A great group of people and friends. They took us right in and welcomed us as part of the group. We had fun getting to...

Apr 22, 2009 - Ruby M. Mize Azalea Garden

Earth Day! What a perfect day to visit the Ruby M. Mize Azalea Garden on the Stephen F. Austin University campus in Nacogdoches. By the time we arrived, all the "stations" had been set up for the school children. Oops, we forgot about those earth day activities. We just walked around them and tried not to disturb them. Wes wanted to see the gardens too, so he drove Dianna, JoElla and I into town. All the women in this group are the navigators when RVing. It has become second nature to give directions when you are not driving. I even find...

Apr 20, 2009 - Camp Tonkawa, TX

We left our favorite place in Beavers Bend, OK and traveled back south about 160 miles to Camp Tonkawa, TX yesterday. We didn't caravan, but we all arrived within a few minutes of each other. It was another beautiful drive through the Piney Woods area of east Texas. We were greeted at the gate by beautiful little deer - lots of them. Camp Tonkawa used to be a Boy Scout camp which was later developed into an RV park. The owner has introduced a small herd of Sika deer and Fallow deer to this park. There are about 30 and they have the run of...
