Apr 22, 2014 - Spring in the country

(To enlarge photos to screen size, click on "view photos" then click on first photo to enlarge, click on "Slide Show" to automatically advance photos.) April, 2014 - Spring in the country is one of my most favorite seasons of the year! It's the rebirth of Mother Nature, the trees are all budding out, the roses are blooming and the wildflowers are popping up. It's a wonderful change after the months of barren winter. Tommy decided to have a small spring garden in the country this year (note the emphasis on small), so in February, he worked...

Oct 10, 2013 - A Fall Foliage Trip.

Thursday, October 10, 2013 - Well, we may finally get our 2007 Newmar Kountry Star motorcoach on the road. We've lived in it for almost a year now, have driven it ten miles and parked it in Alvin, but never taken it on the road. Our plan is to drive to the country for a few days, then make our way to the Ozark Mountains and Eureka Springs, AR. (hopefully) to see some fall foliage color. When we arrived in Franklin at our country place, it looked more like spring than fall! We'd had several inches of rain since our last visit there and...

Sunday, July 15, 2012 - From country base in Robertson County near Bremond, TX - Temperatures reached 104 degrees today and we had a hard rain for just a few minutes but not really enough rain to do any good. Later in the afternoon, it began to thunder and the dark clouds rolled in, but the rain went...

Jun 11, 2012 - Mostly Just Traveling

Monday, June 11, 2012 - Left Franklin, TX and will drive 1100 miles over the next three days; our first destination is Joliet, IL just outside Chicago. On this trip, we'll be touring Wisconsin and Minnesota with a short stopover near Chicago to attend a college graduation celebration for our friend, Trae Howell. We plan to drive about 350 miles each day without doing any sightseeing to ensure that we'll arrive in the Chicago area in time for the party; this is one party we don't want to miss! When traveling, you never know when a breakdown...

Jun 15, 2009 - West Coast trip begins

Day 1 - Amarillo, TX - There's not much to say about the first day of our trip, except it was long and we were traveling through familiar country that we've seen many times. We left Bremond/Franklin area this morning shortly after 9:00 a.m. heading North, Northwest and drove about 480 miles ... long day! We seldom have a set schedule when we travel, just a general idea of the states, cities and places we'll visit and even that is subject to change. We're very flexible. If we see a sign or something that looks interesting, we change...

Oct 22, 2006 - One Day Away from Austin

This morning I said good-bye to my new Lazy Dazer friends and left Tyler State Park around 10:30. Daisy's breakfast cost me $1.98 per gallon, which seems 'cheap' by recent price standards. I stopped a couple of times along the way -- once at a rest stop with free WiFi. I took advantage of that opportunity to update my trip journal. Never know how long it will be before I have access to the Internet again. My home for tonight is at Franklin. Tomorrow, it's on to Austin. Since I had the time tonight, I decided to figure out how much I've...
