Apr 23, 2013 - A New Vacation Home

April 23, 2013 We have a new vacation home!!! It is portable and we bought it at REI. Plus, it packs nicely into the back of the Honda CRV. It’s called the Half Dome Plus—the plus meaning extra storage space where you can put your gear or in our case, the dog. Yes, you guessed it!!! A brand new tent!!!! Not your idea of fun, well, after our first night out in it, I would have agreed with you. I don’t now since we have acquired sleeping pads and the ground is not nearly as hard. Nope, a yoga mat won’t cut the mustard but an air foam pad is...

Mar 17, 2009 - Enchanted Rock State Natural Area

This was the day that the entire state of Texas went to Enchanted Rock. Well, I guess it wasn’t the entire state, but this is spring break week in Texas and many, many, many folks were taking advantage of the nice spring weather to spend a little time out doors. Gene says it only makes sense—Enchanted Rock is the logical place to spend St. Patrick’s Day. We first became aware that there might be a crowd when we had driven several miles through what seemed uninhabited wasteland and then came upon about 20 cars lined up to get in the park....

We had a great time at the play, good dinner, some shopping. The weather was very cold and windy for our stay here 40's, only a couple of the kids went in the hot tub and heated pool which is outside. The rest of us visited and played games. Some of us started coming down with colds, including Ed, so there was alot of sniffing going on. On Sunday some left after breakfast, others shopped and the rest went to the Nimitz, Pacific War and Combat Museum's. Wed all met for lunch and then we started back to Lampasas. The show at the Rockbox was...

Came here for a weekend camping with the kids here and to see a small musical review that is held every weekend. They change the show every weekend to something different, amazing that they can do this with this small group of people. They only hold 4 shows a weekend then they change it for the next weekend. We were so impressed by them that we purchased tickets for there Christmas show, we will be back in the area during there run, which will be for 6 weeks this time. We had a great time checking out the city and had a good german dinner...

Oct 22, 2006 - Kerrville TX, Buckhorn Lake Resort, Elev 1781

We arrived at the rally location about 1:00pm local time Sunday. What a beatiful place! This is really a luxury RV Resort. They pick up your trash at the curb! What a place! We haven't had the opportunity to wander around yet but we will. It's about 60 degrees here and complete sunshine. Since we're in the hill country, it is quite a change in landscape compared to west Texas.

Jan 21, 2001 - 2000 August 25 - TX Hwy 16 Trip - Enchanted Rock State Natural Area

When we had completed our drive on the Willow City Loop, we headed for Enchanted Rock State Natural Area. By then the temperature was quite high. During our hike on the Loop Trail we had to stop several times to cool off. We both have very fair complexions, so we are at risk of major sunburn if we aren’t careful. From here we continued north on Highway 16 to Llano, where we would spend the night in the historic Badu House Bed and Breakfast.

Jan 18, 2001 - 1994 September 30 (P.M.) - Llano County - Enchanted Rock State Natural Area

This afternoon I went to Enchanted Rock State Natural Area and climbed to the top of the great dome. I realized soon that I should have saved this activity until tomorrow because I was already tired before I started the climb. I had been walking around in Llano for several hours. Anyway, I made it to the top and had a wonderful view of the countryside. On the climb back down, I was almost to the bottom when my boot slipped on some tiny gravel and caused me to fall. Four young people who had just passed me, heard the commotion and came back...
