Apr 22, 2013 - Catching Up
Once again I need to apologize to family and friends who follow us on our trip journal… we have been so busy having fun in the sunshine, dancing, bike riding, lunches/dinners/movies with friends that I have neglected turning on my laptop as often and hence have been terrible about keeping you posted on our activities and answering emails. Let’s just say that we have been having RV fun in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas and now we are preparing to “hit the road” again on Thursday of this week. Our first stop will be Choke Canyon State Park....

Feb 11, 2013 - No Voice
Late last night I went to bed with aches in my joints and pain in my head. I had a temp and my throat was sore and yet it was my cough that bothered me more. This morning I awoke still feeling poor and to my surprise I have a voice no more! My vocal cords are on vacation, I’m trying to accept this with calm resignation. How odd it is not to speak, and silent rasps make my coughs sound weak. Willis will probably enjoy this short break from the constant chatter and noise I make. My fingers are now a substitute for my voice, as my computer...

Feb 7, 2013 - Blayde's Surgery
Blayde had a very long day today… actually, it started last night. Wednesday night: 6:00 p.m. Blayde sees his mommy take his food bowl up from the kitchen floor. “Why did my mommy just take my bowl away? What does she mean ‘no more food for you until after your oral surgery’? What is oral surgery?” Thursday morning: 6:00 a.m. Blayde sees his mommy take his water bowl up from the kitchen floor. “Now what is my mommy doing? What if I get thirsty? And what is this oral surgery she keeps talking about?” 7:00 a.m. – “Oh boy! Mommy and Daddy are...

Nov 4, 2012 - Mariachi & Folklorico Fall Concert
I just want to quickly share some of todays pictures of the wonderful Mariachi & Folklorico Fall Concert. Three high schools (Palmview, Juarez Lincoln, and La Joya) all joined together to perform some amazing Grupo Folklorico and Mariachi. There are some truly talented young people in these groups and it was a joy to spend the afternoon appreciating all their hard work. The evening was completed with friends over a lovely dinner on the lake at Rancho Del Charco. What a fun weekend it turned out to be. Happy Travels, Rebecca

Nov 3, 2012 - Dia de los Muertos
Today we took in some local flavor at the Dia de los Muertos exhibit at the Museum of South Texas History with friends (Bruce/Mary Sue and Jack/Jane). We enjoyed the arts and crafts (Willis bought me a lovely handmade beaded bracelet), the various displays and Alter Exhibits, as well as some tasty traditional Mexican food. The pictures posted with this entry give you an idea of some of what we saw Happy Travels, Rebecca

Oct 21, 2012 - Back in the RGV
We arrived safely back to the warmth of the Rio Grande Valley (RGV) on Thursday, the 18th. A mere two hours after backing into our RV site a thunderstorm cracked opened the skies and dumped a LOT of rain on us as we finished settling into our site. It rained so hard and fast that the water filled the streets and it looked like we were parked in a lake. Luckily we are parked on a concrete pad so Tiny didn’t get her tires muddy and the pad is high enough that it appeared as if Tiny could “walk on water” in the middle of this newly created...

Mar 29, 2012 - Thinking About Heading North
What a fun winter we have enjoyed with our many friends here in the sunny Rio Grande Valley this winter. Except for going to pick up our new RV and truck in Arizona in December we ended up not doing much traveling these last couple of months. However, now that we have Tiny and Grumbles all set up the way we want, we are ready to "get back on the road" for more adventures. So... on April 14 we are planning to pull out of the Rio Grande Valley and head north. I'll keep you updated as to our whereabouts as we once again continue on our...

Nov 22, 2011 - Busy in the Rio Grande Valley
We made it safely to the Rio Grande Valley (RGV) where we will now stay for much of the winter. Already since arriving we have taken care of getting new lenses for my glasses, scheduling yearly doctor/dental appointments, getting lab work completed, and (best of all) meeting up with our RV friends who also choose the RGV as their winter escape! I'll probably only post entries in the journal this season as we do and see new things here in the RGV or if we take any side trips (which we do plan on doing). In the meantime know that Willis,...
