Apr 7, 2011 - Preparing to Head Out

I know, I know... I've been terribly remiss in keeping up my journal this last couple of months. We have been so busy swimming, visiting with our friends, and simply enjoying the South Texas sun that I haven't spent much time sitting here in Clyde writing. However, we are preparing to venture back out on the road now that the rest of the country is starting to warm back up so my trip journal entries will once again be more regular. In the meantime, I have a few pictures to share… The picture of Willis and Blayde standing in front of a horse...

Feb 16, 2011 - Rio Grande Valley Music Festival

Here are a few short video clips so you can get a taste of what we saw at the Rio Grande Music Festival on Wednesday, February 16, in Mercedes, Texas, with our friends Jane and Jack. We are still enjoying ourselves here in the Rio Grande Valley of South Texas. Warm weather and good friends make it an excellent retreat from the cold north of here. I'm headed off to the swimming pool now so... Happy Travels, Rebecca

Jan 24, 2011 - Music and Friends

What fun we are having down here in the Rio Grande Valley. Potluck dinners with friends, swimming, football parties, dances, and sunny warm weather (most days) all add up to a pleasurable and very social winter! (I keep forgetting to pull out my camera, but I did manage to take a couple of pictures to share above.) The first picture you’ll see is of Blayde with one of his little girlfriends, Tabitha. One of the things I love about RV parks is that Blayde generally finds a friend or two his size to play and share some “doggy-talk” with. I...

Jan 15, 2011 - Cooler Weather

This week has provided us with a slight taste of what the rest of the country is going through…cold and wet weather! Although we are glad to see the local vegetation finally receiving some moisture, it has curtailed our lounging time by the pool considerably. On the good side, however, this cooler weather is allowing me more time to sort through coupons/paperwork and other “inside the house” type of jobs that needed to be tended to. Of course with the cooler weather we can now indulge in other delights we haven’t done much of this winter:...

Dec 31, 2010 - Happy New Year 2011

We are still in South Texas, enjoying the warm weather and friends, but wanted to send out a "Happy New Year" wish to all of you. We still plan on lying low here until the weather gets better in the rest of the country, but will then resume our travels. In the meantime, we wish you all health and happiness for the upcoming year! Happy Travels, Rebecca

Dec 12, 2010 - Art by Bill Swets

We are still here in South Texas staying warm and enjoying visiting with friends. I really don’t have much new to write as we relax down here waiting out the cold winter chilling the rest of the country but I did want to share a few pictures with you… One of our friends, Bill Swets (he spends his summers in Colorado and his winters down here in South Texas), doesn’t see rusted old metal as junk; instead this ex-dairy farmer sees pieces of rusty metal and old farm implements as components to be transformed into art! I wanted to take a few...

Nov 15, 2010 - My First Harley Ride!

I’ve ridden in planes, trains, automobiles, buses, boats and trams. I’ve ridden on bicycles, horses, a camel, elephants, lawn mowers, tractors, as well as numerous fair and amusement park rides… but never on a Harley-Davidson… until today! Yes, I had my first real motorcycle ride on the back of a beautiful blue Harley-Davidson motorcycle. (When I was a teenager I rode a trail bike in a pasture but I don’t think that really counts as a real motorcycle ride.) Our friend Bill (you may have heard Willis refer to him as “Seabee Bill” because of...

Nov 1, 2010 - “Didja’ fall into the Gulf?”

I recently had a friend send me an email asking me “Didja’ fall into the Gulf”? And he’s right…it has been awhile since I last posted! My lack of postings hasn’t anything to do with our lack of activity but simply our lack of “different” or “interesting” activity to write about. We have spent the last month going to eye doctors, getting new glasses, going to medical doctors (labs, check-ups, mammogram, etc.) and doing a little bit of vehicle maintenance. Therefore, there hasn’t been much of interest to include in our trip journal! For...

Sep 25, 2010 - South Texas

We had an uneventful drive from Branson to the sunny climes of South Texas. Not much new to write about at this time… now is the time for doctor appointments, dental appointments, eye appointments… boring stuff like that. We do have some semi-local trips planned, so I’ll let you know how those go… but other than that it is simply time to relax by the pool and prepare for the onset of cooler weather. Happy Travels, Rebecca
