Jun 10, 2012 - Post Oak Place RV Park
We arrived in Denton TX at the Post Oak Place Campground. Unexciting day washing clothes at the local laundromat at $2.50 per load! Was a good thing we only had 3 loads. We went to visit with very dear friends that I had not see in 30+ years. Walter Gene and Pansy Giles. She had a stroke about 3 years ago but is doing excellent except for some vision problems. Had a very nice visit Saturday night and got up on Sunday and went to church with them. Nice Assembly of God here in Denton. Good service and lunch afterward. Sat and talked for about...

Dec 27, 2010 - An Anniversary and a Kick in the Gut!
Everything was going as expected here in Denton until today, our 45th anniversary. We had a brief visit from our friend Theresa Wilde, who drove up from Austin to spend a few hours with us. It's always good to see and visit with Theresa. Son, Scott, arrived on the 17th to spend the Christmas season with us and his high school friends in the Dallas area. We had a good visit and a good Christmas. Then came today. About 10 days ago Sue had a uterine biopsy done. Since we had not heard from the gynecologist we were confident that all was well....

Dec 2, 2010 - A Night with Tish
By far my favorite singer is Tish Hinojosa. Tish now lives in Germany with her second husband, so opportunities to see her in person in the United States are scarce. I was delighted when I found out that she would be doing a concert in Grand Prairie, only about 30 miles south of Denton. I was even happier to learn that her guitar-playing sidekick, Marvin Dyhkus, would be there along with bass guitarist, Glenn Kawamoto, and keyboard player, Chip Dolan. Sue and I went to the concert and enjoyed many of our Tish favorites like, "West Side of...

Dec 1, 2010 - A Quiet Month
It's been a quiet month in Lake Wobegon - I mean Denton! We did have a nice dinner at the home of Manuel and Velma Reyes. Manuel cooked up some great pork tenderloin and we enjoyed reminiscing and getting updated on the happenings of the past year. Yesterday we headed back over to White Rock Lake. This time Arnie joined us and we met Ann Shipman for a quiet walk around the lake. We took our time and had lunch along the way but everyone made it around the 9-mile long trail. Meanwhile our doctor and dentists visits are going well and we are...

Nov 7, 2010 - DRC Half Marathon and 5K
We have arrived at Destiny Dallas RV Resort about 30 miles northwest of Dallas. Our original plan was to spend a month here doing doctors and seeing friends. But some extra dental work has caused a change of plan and we now expect to be here until after Christmas. We had a good time today at White Rock Lake where we joined four friends for the Dallas Running Club Half Marathon and 5K races. Our friends, from my days at The Academy, are George and Lisa Karr and Eric and Katie Creeger. They, along with Sue, were entered in the 5K. I ran the...

Oct 19, 2010 - Day 97 - Oklahoma City, OK to Denton, TX
Today we traveled from Oklahoma City, OK to Denton, TX, a short drive of about 3 hours. Our decision to stop in Denton was to allow us visit with an old Navy buddy that lives in Rhome, TX. There was not very much to take pictures of today and my photographers were not snapping the cameras too much. This morning threatened rain, with a short sprinkle of rain just before I went out to hook up the car and disconnect the coach. The weather then turned out clear and warm. Jim came over late in the afternoon and we had a good time reminiscing...

May 15, 2010 - Saturday, May 15, Denton, TX
Laundry day and just general RV clean up. Had lunch at Dickey's B-que - yum! Ben & Nancy picked us up about 3:30ish & we took a tour of the Grapevine area (very nice quaint town), Ft. Worth, The Stockyards & Billy Bobs.........we didn't get to go into Billy Bobs because it was closed between 5 & 6 p.m. in preparation for the evening show with Ricky Springfield. If we had been there before 5, we could have walked around for $1, however, after 6 p.m. (even though we weren't going to the show) it would be $20 apiece to walk around. Needless to...

May 13, 2010 - Thursday May 13, Denton, TX
Left Lubbock about 7:45 a.m. Weather was not as windy as days past which was a good thing. Exactly a 6 hour drive to Denton along Hwy 314. Pretty drive through some small towns and countryside. Didn't have to get on I-35 until just before Denton which was a good thing. Arrived at Destiny RV Park in Denton mid-afternoon. Site #107 was an easy pull-in. Dick called Ben Virgin, his Goulds friend, and Ben came over to us up for dinner at 6. We ate at 'Roosters' a great bar-type atmosphere with great food and unique names. As an appetizer we...

Nov 15, 2009 - Hello Denton
We were able to hit the road by noon on Friday. We spent Friday night in Tucumcari and Saturday night in Amarillo. We arrived here, with a dead car battery at about 4:00 today. We'll need to get the car looked at while we are here. We have returned to our starting point for this journal and the end of a really enjoyable journey through the mountains of Colorado, the Washington/Oregon coast, Lake Tahoe, and the Bryce/Zion area. It is time for our usual winter hiatus. The plan is to be in Florida for most of the winter. I will start a new...

Jun 7, 2009 - Heading out Soon!
It looks like we will finally be heading north this week. Our planned departure day is Tuesday although it might slip to Wednesday. The major event of the week was my catheterization on Wednesday. It turns out that I have only minimal blockage in my artery despite previous test indications. That's good news but strangely disappointing at the same time. I had kind of hoped that they would fix something that would improve my run endurance! But I suppose it's better that there wasn't a problem. We ended up in the emergency room on Thursday...
