It was a quiet Easter Sunday, had a wonderful ham and various side dishes, enjoyed watching Matthew and Ryan open their easter baskets with a surprise in the bottom - can you guess what the surprise “inside” the basket was. . . . . . . . Yes, a bag of “Cracker Jacks”

Dec 29, 2016 - Dayton TX - Last entry for 1016

Well, this has been a very long year. We spent the winter in Portland TX, enjoyed exploring the Corpus Christi area, seeing family and friends we haven’t seen a quite a while. I (Mike) some of my photography in an art contest at Portland’s Windfest and I placed 1st, 2nd and 4th very proud of that fact. We then came back to Dayton for doctor’s appointment. On our way to California we had issues with our truck and 5th wheel that required us staying over 4 weeks in Kerrville, TX. It was a trying time; however, we did see things we may never...

Dec 25, 2016 - Dayton TX - Christmas Day

Each Christmas day, Casey cooks breakfast, while we eat, each of us then opens up our stocking to see what Santa brought us. It is a lot of fun and the food was great. Then Patty Casey & Sabrina’s special neighbor comes over and we open presents. Lot of fun seeing the expression on each others faces as they open their presents. The best one was when Casey got a hat fashioned after the “chocolate emoji” it really looks like a pile of Sh.. He laughed for quite a while. Yes is does look like a pile of S...

Nov 28, 2016 - TX - Dayton - Our First Christmas Tree in over 8 years

In over 8 years we have not had a Christmas Tree in our 5th wheel. We have opted for something very small usually less than 6 inches in height. We decided to get a tree, though we don’t like artificial flowers or trees, we decided to get an artificial tree 4’ in size. It was flocked, something that reminded us of trees from our childhood. We found this one at Walmart, its limbs fold up for storage. It is really beautiful and we will enjoy it during the Christmas season.

Jul 23, 2016 - Dayton - Historic

We drove around Dayton to see some of its historical sites. Dayton was first called West Liberty and was considered part of the original town of Liberty, founded in 1831. The Trinity River divided the two parts of the town: Liberty was on its east bank, and West Liberty was on a hill three miles west of the river. A new road and a ferry directly connected the two. Both parts of the town were located on the four-league Mexican land grant appropriated for the capital of the old municipality of Santísima Trinidad de la Libertad, which later...

We had a good time and we were right across from the Senior Center Raffle booth. We have gone to the senior center for lunch periodically, the food is good and the company is great. The Senior booth was one of there annual money raisers, they did very well.

Jan 23, 2016 - Casey Painting 5th Wheel

Sabrina & Casey gave Reggi a birthday present of painting the underside of the 5th wheel. Sabrina spent over 5 days applying paint remover, she really did a great job, if we had known the extent of what needed to be done we would not have had them do it. Casey had the easier part, he painted the underside.

Jan 17, 2016 - Memorial for our beloved Houston

Houston went to the Rainbow Bridge on May 22nd 2014, we have missed him dearly. We know he is no longer in pain. We knew we were going to bury him in Casey & Sabrina’s backyard, so we carried his ashes with us until we got back to Dayton TX. We will continue to carry some of his ashes with us in the beautiful box.

Dec 29, 2015 - Timber - Three trees were taken down

Casey & Sabrina’s property had a lot of trees, 7 were taken down to make room for our RV pad, another three were taken down today. Watching Lincoln climb the tree and systematically take it apart was amazing and the final picture shows what was left falling to the ground after Ed notched it and then made a cut on the opposite side.

Nov 27, 2015 - An Iron Gate along my walking route

I walk 5 days a week, started out around 2.5 miles now up to 3.9 miles. It is a commitment i have made to Reggi and to myself. Along my route is this iron gate, a really magnificent piece of art. Reggi tripped over a rock that didn't move, so she has been sidelined temporarily. She was up to 2.7 miles before this accident, she will rejoin me once she gets better.
