Mar 9, 2014 - Daylight Savings Time and we're up way early!
We have been at the beautiful Hords Creek Lake Corps of Engineers Park since Sunday. Sorry for the delay, but I picked up Bev's bug and haven't been feeling too well. Deep cough, chills and fever; but it comes and goes, hopefully goes away real soon! On Sunday morning with the daylight savings time in force and neither of us feeling too well, we were on the road before sunrise. Highly abnormal for us. Out in west Texas the sun was just peeking over the eastern horizon about 8AM and we certainly enjoyed the show of a magnificent sunrise....Jump to full entry

7/9/11 On the road this morning by 10:20 for another short travel day, headed east to Coleman, Texas and the Lakeside Corps of Engineer Park at Hord’s Creek Lake, another lake in the process of disappearing. There is still a small “lake” at the east end but only a creek as you go towards the west end. The animals traveled very well today. Not a peep out of Nellie or Taco the whole way. Nov 9, 2009 - Coleman, TX - Hords Creek Lake
(Ron Writing) It rained quite a bit during the night and was cloudy much of the day. We left Stephenville heading southwest on US-67. This part of Texas is mostly small towns, ranches, farming, pecan groves, and oil wells. Some areas are quite hilly and we are seeing beautiful oak trees that remind us of the “hill country” of Texas. We continued west to Valera and then a short distance north to Hords Creek Lake near Coleman, TX. Our Texan friends, Russ and Glynna, told us about a Corps of Engineers campground here.
