Aug 31, 2011 - Canton, TX
We started off our day by taking Duke for one last swim in the lake. As usual, he had a wonderful time. Sometimes we don’t know what he likes more…swimming or getting dried off. He just loves having the towel thrown over him and getting roughed up. He’s one funny dog! Then we were on our way out of Hot Springs. Before we knew it, we were on I-30 heading west. We stopped in Texarkana for breakfast and had a rough time finding a place to park the RV. We finally found an empty lot and walked about a mile to IHOP. Boy, was it hot! When we got...

Mar 20, 2011 - FCRV Retiree's Rally
Here we are at the Retirees Rally in Canton, TX. We re-united up again with John and Jan at the entrance so we could park together for the rally. The Rally has some activities planned but not a lot. This is a laid back rally, remember it is for Retirees. They have evening entertainment which so far has been excellent. Awesome to say the least! Sunday and Monday are early bird days with the Rally beginning on Tuesday, Mar. 22. On Tuesday we attended a seminar on "RVing Atlantic Canada" then John and Jan went to attend the "First Timers...

Dec 13, 2010 - OTRA – TX - Canton
12/13/10 Left the Pavilion RV Park at 10:30 after first going across the street for diesel and getting our propane tanks refilled. The trip was pretty easy until we got to Shreveport, Louisiana and then, wow, that road was HORRENDOUS. I had to slow down to 40 mph and we were still bouncing all over the place. This road even beat Pennsylvania roads for bad condition. When we finally got to camp, I found my desk chair tipped over, the printer fell off it’s table (it has NEVER done that before), and Taco’s food dish was completely flipped over...

We then drove to Canton Texas to visit my (Michael) cousins - Virginia her daughters Cathy and Cindy and son Flint and their children. Virginia’s home was designed by her brother Thomas and built by her dad. We had a wonderful time. We went to First Monday - the largest flea market in the USA. In May and September they have about 300,00 people show up for the 4 day event and in October and November they have around 500,000 people and the population of Canton is around 5,500. We visited the old Wallace homestead where my dad was raised and...

Apr 28, 2010 - Lazy Dazers Rally - Canton, TX
WEDNESDAY This morning by 10:00 I was on my way to Canton for the Lazy Dazers South Central rally. I made several brief stops and still arrived early in the afternoon. On the way I saw a lot of wildflowers in small patches. The closer to Canton I came, I noticed some of the damage caused by the storm that moved through the area three days ago. There were large trees totally uprooted, as well as branches and tops of trees broken off. There was also standing water in low places. A few miles from Canton, I saw a house with large trees on top...

Mar 20, 2009 - Canton, Texas
On Thursday we left Boosier City and drove into Texas. I thought Bob was going to jump out of the motor home and kiss the ground when we crossed into Texas but he contained himself. I guess most of you know that Bob spent about 35 years in Texas and still thinks of it as home. We are staying at the Canton I-20 RV Park in Canton, TX, a very nice park but the wi-fi is a little iffy. Canton is famous for 1st Monday Trading Days, each month on the weekend before the 1st Monday there is a giant, I mean GIANT, flea market here. We drove by the...
