May 3, 2012 - Bay Landing /TT

We had a busy day today. We left Lake Conroe about 9AM saying our good byes to friends and started our trip further north. We stopped in Decatur for a grease job and oil change in the coach. Rob had to unhook the car and take the bikes and ladder off so they could do the work. After it was done we headed to Bay Landing about 14 miles following the GPS Rob made a wrong turn and ended up in someones yard, after turning around we found the right road arriving about 4:15. We went out for bar b que at Raymond's in Bridgeport real good food and...

Oct 10, 2011 - Texas Layover

The morning was overcast as we set out for another leg of our journey to winters quarters. We crossed some large lakes, shrouded in fog, as we crossed Oklahoma. It almost felt like we were driving along the ocean because we could not see the farside due to the fog and drizzle. The winds were gone at least. The road was still bumpy, but better for sure as we went through the popular lake country. The sun came out and the road smoothed out as we entered Texas. We stayed well out of the traffic influence of the Dallas/Fort Worth area as we...

Nov 22, 2010 - Bridgeport, TX - TT Bay Landing on Lake Bridgeport

Monday, November 22 - We traveled around 259 miles today and after we set up camp at Bay Landing, the temp read 88 on the front of the coach. I was almost tempted to turn the AC on. This Thousand Trails Preserve is on Lake Bridgeport which is one of many Reservoirs in Texas. This park is usually closed by this time of the year, so there are not too many other campers in the park. There are a lot of Honey Mesquite Trees and Prickly Pear Cactus throughout the park with a LOT of sand burs everywhere. They stick to the bottom of your shoes and...

Oct 11, 2010 - Bridgeport, Texas

Yesterday we went to a big cat rescue place. They had lions, tigers, cougars, leopards, white tigers, and spotted leopards. We got a tour of the place for nearly 2 hours and they explained the history of each animal. It was a very informative tour. The feed them horses and cattle. In zoos they normally get hamburger and they don't do very well on it. Many of the zoo animals are runted or suffer vitamin problems. The have found that by eating the whole animal they are much healthier and their animals are much larger than zoo animals. Theirs...

Alaska 2010

Oct 9, 2010 - Bridgeport, Texas

We started out the day with breakfast in the clubhouse. Then we toured the town and found the museum was not open until 1 PM. So we went to this cemetery where an alien was buried in 1897. We could not find the site, but it was fun as it was a pretty old cemetery. We then went back to the museum, but it was still closed even though it was supposed to be open. We saw this store with a catchy phrase on the window. We checked it out. It was a bakery but they had nothing for sale as they were working on two wedding cakes. We finished of the day...

Alaska 2010

Oct 8, 2010 - Bridgeport, Texas

We decided to leave to leave Thackerville early because there were stickers everywhere. So we moved a short distance south to Bridgeport to a nicer campground. We are with Dave and Trish and Greg and Judy. On the way out of Thackerville, we ate our free senior breakfast at the local casino. While here in Brigeport I got the air conditioning fixed in the truck and today we went to Poolville to visit with Wayland Long of 2L Custom Trucks. He is going to be fixing the damage to the truck next week.

May 11, 2010 - Bay Landing TT

Drove about 60 miles SW through Denton and over to Bridgeport this morning. Beautiful park but very, very few 30 amp FHU. I got the last one. Fellow Texas TT/FMCA members are here too and we have had nice visits. Ray and Lis are from Switzerland and have been RVing fulltime in the US for a short time. They came over for 15 years Rving for a month each time and enjoyed the lifestyle so much, decided to take it up full time. Lots of sharing of information gathered thru their research over the years. Many days of thunderstorms. Hopefully will...

Apr 10, 2008 - Bay Landing and Wichita Falls

The wind is blowing and the temperature is 75, what more could you ask for. When we were in Lake Tawakoni we went to a benefit rodeo for a young man that needed surgery for cerebral palsy. It was a lot of fun to be there cause everyone was very friendly and you could wander around. Of course I spent some money, it was for a good cause. We got to stand right next to the fence near the chutes and got some awesome pictures. The clowns were supposed to be doing an Elvis song of baby baby but you had to be there to know how funny it was. Then we...

Traveling with Carol, Lou and Beau We left Justin, as a caravan with Andrew's motor coach to spend the weekend.... having fun at a town festival and celebrating Jana's brother's birthday. We weighed in at a truck stop and found we were under the maximum weight allowed. I was relieved! Our first experience underway was fun and all went smoothly. We are loading up and making plans to really 'hit the road'. Must weight again loaded up fully - still was okay! Whew ......
