Dec 13, 2018 - Last Days in San Antonio???

Wednesday is the last day scheduled for San Antonio. However, the thing the west is known for...Moriah (the wind)...has raised her ugly head again and we are now changing our schedule to allow us to stay Thursday in San Antonio due to the scheduled winds. This meant also changing our destination reservations in Ft Stockton, TX and Las Cruces N.M. I ran downtown to Paris Hatters to get them to provide the silk liner they forgot to put back in my Stetson I purchased there last December. It took them less than 5 minutes to get a new liner...

Dec 11, 2018 - Monday and Tuesday in San Antonio

For some reason I woke up on Monday morning and decided to check the weather for the planned travel later this week. Well as previously seen on Weather.com, Thursday is shaping up to be a very bad travel day. Weather here in SA indicate winds of 20 - 30 mph winds with gust exceeding 40 mph. Not ideal driving weather. Fort Stockton, our first day destination, is showing even stronger winds and gust exceeding 50 mph. Needless to say, travel days are changing. Then on to other issues. We appear to be having problems with the Air Force One...

Dec 9, 2018 - The weekend in San Antonio

Well, we went to bed tired on Thursday evening thinking of sleeping late on Friday...but, as normal I was awake a little after 6:00 a.m. I stayed in bed listening to the rain on the roof of the Bus. I tried to be still and quiet so Sue could in fact sleep later. I was sitting up on the side of the bed reading email and looking at the Birthday wishes I had received on FaceBook when the phone rang. It was Beth and her girls ready to sing me Happy Birthday. After we hung up it was time to get up and have breakfast. And that we did. And we...

Dec 6, 2018 - Easy Yukky 300 mile day

Up about 7:00 to get ready to head for Boerne. It should be an easy 300 mile day...or so it would seem. I was out gingerly with Ziva soon after 7:00 for her abbreviated nature walk. And believe it or not, it was spitting rain. Just what we were needing for our drive. Then off to breakfast at the RV park's inhouse restaurant. A quick light breakfast and we were back to the bus to get ready to travel. We were around and off by 9:15 or so. We were headed for Waco which we made by 11:15 or so. We had to run the wipers intermittently most of the...

Apr 30, 2018 - Alamo Fiesta RV Park

Started having left eye blurry vision issues. Made appointment in Kerrville Tx, during my month stay in the Hill Country. A few days before the appointment eye started watering and was sensitive to light. Turns out I had a corneal ulcer. Like a cold sore, except on the eye. Burning eye drops and antibiotics have hopefully killed the rascal. Appointment was on May 1st, to address the original problem, left eye blured vision. Doc, thinks my implant, from cataract surgery 2 years ago, may be covered with a film. Dilate the eye, which can not...

Jan 10, 2018 - Getting ready to go

The pace has picked up. We are now looking at all the things on our checklist that need to be done before we pull out on Friday morning. So many things that have to be done close to time to pull out. Now is the time to start stocking up on groceries. It is time to check the tire pressures on the CRV as well as the Bus. And it is time to get both cleaned up for the road trip. And so we did... Bank work started at 6:00. The crew to wash and wax the Bus showed up 9:00. Various things are going on inside. Sue is balancing the bank statements, I...

Jan 9, 2018 - Busy before we leave

Countdown is continuing. We are getting ready to leave on Friday morning. Lots of little busy items that require attention or trips to acquire something and taking care of loose ends. To quote Phil Robertson...Busy, busy, busy... Monday started after I finished my bank work. Several texts and emails went on for a while but never enough to stop my busy work. We got the dryer vent cover reattached with silicone and new screws. Other busy work was checking the status of the batteries and spraying T-9 on the steps to insure they continue to...

Jan 7, 2018 - Easy Three Days

Friday started early and my bank work was done early. I was ready for the day to begin, since there was nothing on the itinerary. Then, I spent two hours on the phone with the bank's IT provider as they cured a problem they had caused on Wednesday. So my early start at nothing was now a mid day start. Our agenda was open because we were waiting on the mobile tech to come help us fix the dryer. He arrived around 12:40 and we wrote him a check about 1:00. Not a problem if you are the right size and have a longer screwdriver than what we have....

Jan 4, 2018 - One week before we go

Next Thursday will be our last full day in Boerne. Seems unreal that time is so close. We have been planning and working on this since July. But more on that later. The last three days have been a blur. Most of the days and nights have been a burr...lows around 20 degrees. Now I think that is too cold for a motorhome. We have been trying to take care of several things so we can be ready but the cold has slowed down our efforts that involve being outside. Tuesday was cold but we had to get out before the Bus got too small. We went into San...

Jan 1, 2018 - And Away We Go!!!

New Years Eve was a day of preparing...not for the new year but the incoming cold weather. Many different forecasts had us worried. We spent time getting the fresh water tank filled, the waste water tanks dumped and heater and cords ready for the wet bay. Best bet was the temperature was going to approach 20 degrees. Not ideal for living in a motorhome. For darn sure not anywhere close to our target of 70 degrees. So today is entitled "and away we go"...from the old Jackie Gleason show. Young folks ... look that up. I look back at some...

Sep 20, 2017 - Boerne

Gwen, her sister Kathleen, and I spent the day shopping in Boerne ( a favorite town of ours when we RV'd together at Buckhorn). What fun! We all managed to pick up some special items and some bargains. We had a fabulous lunch at a new bistro and later had dessert and coffee at a bakery. Gwen took the long way home so we passed through Fredericksburg - another favorite town. Loved seeing old the haunts again. Packed up the car tonight since I plan to leave early tomorrow morning. What a pain having to drive back to east Texas just to get...

May 9, 2017 - Boerne TX - Little Gretel Restaurant - Lunch with Mark & Diane

We had lunch with Mark and Diane Jone, who are Natalie’s parents. Natalie is married to our nephew Matt. We last saw them when Natalie & Matt were married in Oct of 2010 in San Antonio. We had a great German lunch at the outside Little Gretel Restaurant, it is a well know restaurant. If you are ever in the area stop for a wonderful meal.
