Mar 17, 2006 - Tip of TX

We're in Mission TX now and it has been hot. We will be down here near the very tip of TX for a couple of weeks. There are tons of parks down here just full of trailers and RVs. They all head north about now and it dries up down here until fall when they come back mostly from Michigan and Iowa, but many other places, too. PASSING WIND 2006

Jan 10, 2006 - Mission, TX

Jan 10-11 - Mission, Bentsen-Rio Grande State Park We decided not to go the Laredo and check out the Rio Grande Valley instead. We only had to drive 100 miles today, so we stopped for lunch in Mexico. Progreso is a really nice spot to cross into Mexico to Nuevo Progreso. It was down a bit this morning, good thing or it would be difficult to drive. We had no choice of route, only the 77 goes from Corpus Christi to Brownsville. This is the only place we have run into signage difficulty and missed the turn on to the 77, but caught it a bit further along with not much loss of time. Besides, time isn't supposed to be a factor! Our route took us past...

Jan 6, 2005 - marathon ride home

Marathon ride home I boarded the bus at 9:00 in the morning in Puebla and spent the day rolling over the countryside from Puebla to Poza Rica. According to the weather it is 47 degrees in Texas. Brrrr. It was kinda crisp in Pubela when I left. The bus ride will last until 5 pm tomorrow. Approx 30 hours before I reach Houston. As I rode along I kept thinking about getting all my gear through customs OK. I was praying for a green light. Night fell somewhere along the mountain road and I slept until the bus stopped at a station. Everyone said,...
