May 31, 2020 - May 24-31, 2020 – Aransas Pass, Texas

May 24-31, 2020 – Aransas Pass, Texas May 24 – I woke up this morning to the coach rocking. The wind was blowing hard. It was a hot and humid day. I spent the day reading and doing crosswords. The folks who were fishing or doing other outdoor activities had a good day for it. There was a picture of the Port Aransas beach which showed people crowded together and obviously not practicing social distancing. Tonight there was a picture of people jammed into a bar at Lake of the Ozarks. They were standing under a sign which asked folks to...

May 23, 2020 - May 17-23, 2020 – Aransas Pass, Texas

May 17-23, 2020 – Aransas Pass, Texas May 17 – It was a sunny day, and the temperature warmed up rapidly. I was able to have the awning out to protect the refrigerator from the sun for the better part of the day. One thing about moving to a different spot for the summer is that the refrigerator will only get the morning sun instead of almost all day. May 18 – It was hot and humid today with very little breeze. Really glad that I have AC. There was one new camper came in today. It looks like folks are beginning to move around more now. The...

May 16, 2020 - May 10-16, 2020 – Aransas Pass, Texas

May 10-16, 2020 – Aransas Pass, Texas May 10 – It was a nice day, and I had the windows open. That is until this afternoon when someone nearby was playing country music at the top of the volume scale. At that point, I closed the windows and turned on the AC so I didn’t have to listen. I spent the day reading and enjoyed the fresh air while I could. May 11 – It has been a gorgeous day. The sun was out most of the day, and the temperature was 82 this afternoon. With the wind blowing, it felt much cooler than that. I had all the windows open...

May 9, 2020 - May 1-9, 2020 – Aransas Pass, Texas

May 1-9, 2020 – Aransas Pass, Texas May 1 – There were 2 rigs which left this morning. I think that was the last of the Winter Texans heading home. I paid my rent for this month and checked my mail while I was out. It is a gorgeous day, and I’m enjoying having all the windows open. The news continues to be good from Deb’s husband. They removed the tube for the ventilator yesterday afternoon. Now, he is just on the CPAP machine. The rest of his treatment is also being backed down so hopefully he will recover from this bout and be able to go...

Apr 30, 2020 - April 26-30, 2020 – Aransas Pass, Texas

April 26-30, 2020 – Aransas Pass, Texas April 26 – It was another beautiful day. There was a nice breeze. It was cool enough that I didn’t open all the windows until around noon. It is nice to have fresh air. I watched the Carol Burnett retrospective this afternoon. I was a little disappointed. They only played the skits. While I like skits, 6 hours of them got old. After a couple of hours, I returned to reading. I did look up and watch the “Went with the Wind” spoof of the movie Gone with the Wind. It was as funny as the 1st time I saw it....

Apr 25, 2020 - April 19-25, 2020 – Aransas Pass, Texas

April 19-25, 2020 – Aransas Pass, Texas April 19 – Well, the highlights of today were laundry, emptying and flushing the black water tank. The day started off cool and rainy and stayed that way until the sun finally broke through around 1 this afternoon. It warmed up rapidly after that. This afternoon I watched Auntie Mame. It was the Rosalind Russell version. I thoroughly enjoyed it. It has been a long time since I’ve seen it, and it was a nice, light movie to watch on a boring afternoon. April 20 – It was really foggy this morning and...

Apr 18, 2020 - April 12-18, 2020 – Aransas Pass, Texas

April 12-18, 2020 – Aransas Pass, Texas April 12 – The southeast is getting battered with storms today. There was hail in the western part of Texas which piled up on the ground like snow. Fortunately, things here have been relatively calm. We’ve had high winds, and they are supposed to hang around until about dark. The wind is blowing steady around 25 mph with gusts to 45 mph. So, as you can imagine, the coach has been doing a little rocking this afternoon. The temperature has hit 95, but the next few days are supposed to be in the low 70s...

Apr 11, 2020 - April 5-11, 202 – Aransas Pass, Texas

April 5-11, 202 – Aransas Pass, Texas April 5 – The next 2 weeks are going to be bad. According to the Surgeon General of the US, who has been noticeably absent in the discussions, says that these weeks will be our generation’s Pearl Harbor. I talked to both Guyla and Patsy today. Both are staying in. Patsy said she had to go to the grocery store to get milk but will do it during the hours which are reserved for seniors. Guyla, like me, has enough food to last for over 2 weeks so won’t be venturing out. Today was laundry day and emptying...

Apr 4, 2020 - April 1-4, 2020 – Aransas Pass, Texas

April 1-4, 2020 – Aransas Pass, Texas April 1 – When I went to the office to pay my rent for this month, they had a sign up that said the door was locked, and no one would be allowed inside except staff. They had a window which was open just enough to slide a check through. They were not taking any cash – only checks and credit cards. I talked to my cousin in Ohio. Wilma and Russ are doing fine and are staying in just as I am. I spent the day reading and doing crosswords. I did fill out the census form I got and will mail it back in. Other...

Mar 31, 2020 - March 29-31, 2020 – Aransas Pass, Texas

March 29-31, 2020 – Aransas Pass, Texas March 29 – It was cool enough this morning that I was able to open the windows for a while. Then, it got cooler still so I closed the windows. Shortly after that, a sudden downpour erupted. I was glad that the windows were already closed. Otherwise, I would have had a lot of water to wipe up. There was a high wind with the rain so it would just have blown right in. I read and did crosswords. I cooked some pork chops in the slow cooker and steamed some asparagus for supper. I have 3 leftover pork chops...

Mar 28, 2020 - March 22-28, 2020 – Aransas Pass, Texas

March 22-28, 2020 – Aransas Pass, Texas March 22 – It was a nice day so I had the windows open almost all day. I worked crosswords today. The pandemic continues to get worse. The International Olympic Committee has begun to talk about a postponement after Canada announced they would not send a team. I can’t imagine that any country is going to send a team in this environment. I am only listening to information which Governor Cuomo and Dr. Fauci are sharing. They seem to be the only ones who have a handle on what is going on and what has to...

Mar 21, 2020 - March 15-21, 2020 – Aransas Pass, Texas

March 15-21, 2020 – Aransas Pass, Texas March 15 – This morning’s RV Travel Newsletter brought the news that the casinos in several states are closed. You know it’s getting bad if the casinos are closing. The list of canceled RV shows is long. Some state parks are closing. Some are being converted as a place to house folks who need to be quarantined. I went to the grocery store to get Tylenol this morning. I didn’t get there when they opened, but about 15 minutes later. I’m glad I wasn’t there when they did open, because if I thought I’d...
