Mar 10, 2017 - Disappointing

Out of Arizona, across southern New Mexico, and over the border into Texas and it all looks the same. KOA parks are usually are a little above average so we decided to stop there for the night as we have not had good luck trying to find decent accommodations before in El Paso. I guess we picked the wrong KOA. Again a dirt parking lot with no cable TV and no pool for more than we usually spend didn’t lighten our spirits. There was a Camping World next to the park, so we went in and talked with them about our satellite dish and they confirmed...

Oct 22, 2013 - Back in Texas

We had a short drive from Deming, NM, to Anthony, TX, yesterday. We're staying at the American RV Park located behind the Camping World here. The reviews for this park were the best in the El Paso area so we were surprised to see a temporary sign on the street & a temporary check-in sign at a portable building that houses the office, showers & laundry. We asked if it was a new park & were told it's been here 10 years. The sites are huge & marked with nice, lit numbers but otherwise are gravel with no plants or decorations. It is nice to be...

May 3, 2013 - Moving on

We survived the 40+mph blow of yesterday and the cold of last night. My baby doesn't yet know that temps approached freezing in the night or that I had to go out in the cold dark night to switch from an empty to full propane tank so she could sleep in comfort. My bath robe needs a liner I think. El Paso was not on this leg of the journey, but the lung/altitude/route change put us here and allowed three additional days with a dear and special friend. Add to his friendship the fact that he knows where to eat, and it was well worth the return...

Mar 18, 2013 - Texas Dining

Just a leisurely day with our dear friend. We sat and chatted, did some grocery shopping and then went to lunch. A true Texas steakhouse with nothing but good food. Linda and Richard ate a lot while I remembered what my trainer had told me. Then I ate some more. Best of all, Richard picked up the check. Back to the campground for more conversation and watching Destiny's annoyance that Richard was sitting on her sofa. A light dinner and then came the time when we had to say goodbye. The good news is that we think he's going to be able to...

The Gypsy Whaylands

Jan 7, 2013 - Rose Bowl trip

We are back in Texas, although we battled very high winds all day today on I-10. Anthony, TX is at the Texas border, just west of El Paso. We did see snow along side the highway near Anthony, but none on the ground here. We'll have a long travel day tomorrow as there are not any good rv parks to stop at until we reach Junction. We need to be in Montgomery, TX on Wednesday for the January South Texas Renegades rally at Lake Conroe KOA. Please don't let the winds be so bad tomorrow!!!
