Aug 13, 2018 - Tims Ford State Park - Fairview Campground (8/5 - 8/6/18)

This is a nice park right on Tims Ford Lake. Our site, #39, was up on a little bit of a hill and backed up to the lake, but it was too steep to get down to the lake. The sites are quite spacious and the ones across from us are right on the lake. We were lucky and didn't have anyone on either side of us. We chose this place because it is close to Lynchburg, TN; home of the Jack Daniels Distillery. On Monday we made our pilgrimage to Lynchburg. That is the one and only distillery in the world and they supply the world with Jack Daniels. When...

Sep 1, 2012 - RIP Dad

Jonathan Clay Webber Born Feb. 8, 1929 Died Aug. 29, 2012 JC and his sisters, Teresa & Kat lost their father this week to Alzheimer's. JC & I were fortunate to have spent 5 weeks with him this past July. Although his Alzheimer's was advanced, there were a few moments that his sparkling eyes came alive, he flashed his great smile and roared his infectious laugh. He was a Renaissance man. Not in the literary sense, but in his quest for experiencing life. In his youth he held his school's pole vaulting record and earned every school letter....

Apr 6, 2011 - Tims Ford Lake - Fairview Campground

This morning we got up early so I could hit Fairview Campground at the Tims Ford State Park as soon as they opened to get a preferred spot. Many state parks, county and city parks are first come, first serve. Well, there were two people waiting when I arrived at the Fairview Campground about 8 am. They had been there since 7 am and wanted to make sure they got the sites they wanted. They were locals and were staying just the weekend. We had walked the campground yesterday afternoon and picked a few sites that would work for us. It is not...

Mar 31, 2011 - Winchester, TN

Moving on from Chattanooga, we arrived in Winchester, TN early afternoon. JC's Dad lives in Winchester and we plan to visit for a week. When we were here last November, we stayed at the Circle E Horse Ranch. It is about 10 miles outside of town at the top of a mountain with a pretty steep incline. RV parks are few an far between in this area. Well, at least for 40 foot rigs with satellite. Tims Ford Lake has two State Park campgrounds. The larger of the two is very treed and the sites are intended for smaller rigs. The other one we...

Nov 17, 2010 - We are really back on the road again!

It has been a long time since I have blogged. A good friend suggested I not try to catch up, just start again. Good advice. We are currently in Winchester, TN visiting JC's dad. We are staying at the Circle E Guest Ranch. This is horse country but they let non-horse people stay as well. There are not many choices in this part of the country. The horse ranch is located at the top of a mountain overlooking Winchester. This mountainous area is heavily treed and very pretty. The plentiful trees are wonderful golds, yellows and reds showing off...

May 27, 2009 - Winchester, Tennessee

It is in the neighborhood of 400 miles from Summerdale, AL to Winchester, TN. We got as far as Huntsville, AL and boondocked at a Walmart. The Walmart personnel was really nice and did not have a problem with us staying at all. It is nice to have arrived in Winchester as planned. We have some work ahead of us trimming trees and such to get in Dad's yard. I'll go into to all that on the next post. Sorry about some of my pictures. I am having a problem with the lens cover sticking. Looks like I might get a new camera. I hope, I hope, I hope.
