We were all pretty lazy today. We went to a local cafe for breakfast. The waiter thought I was just another crazy Californian when I asked for fruit. He didn't have fruit, but I noticed that they sold banana splits. I asked for a banana and he was very gracious and served it to me on a lovely plate. We did a little more touring and Turmi had to go to work. Jerry took us to the community center for a dinner that was put on by the local policeman (he's the only one in Sneedville). He cooked steaks from one of his cows (don't even go there)...

Jul 17, 2009 - Sneedville

Today Jerry made us a huge country breakfast. I enjoyed my Jenny Craig breakfast and watched bacon, hashed browns and other scrumptious food disappear. We took a tour of Sneedville - it's a very small town in northeast Tennessee (about 1 1/2 hours from Knoxville). We went to Turmi's mother's house (it's down a country road from Pepper Hill) and found this humongous nest of some kind. We took some pics and walked back to Casa de Kottkamp. It's a good thing we walked, because we had a wonderful dinner of baked pork chops and all the fixings!

Jul 16, 2009 - Heading to Sneedville

Total Miles = 475 We woke up in Memphis to a raging electrical storm. The lightning was so bright and the thunder scared Stacy half to death! We had breakfast at the hotel and waiting until the storm let up. We took our time travelling across some beautiful country - lots of green trees and fields. I was so happy to arrive in Sneedville where my most special friend lives. When Turmi and Jerry moved to Sneedville 17 years ago, they built a beautiful home.
