May 27, 2010 - Onto the Blue Ridge Parkway

The Blue Ridge Parkway runs from Gatlinburg, Tennessee, north-eastward through Tennessee, all of North Carolina, and a lot of Virginia. It runs along the crest of the Blue Ridge Mountains for a total of 469 miles, and was mostly built by FDR's New Deal Conservation Corps workers in the 1930s. It's fairly narrow - only two lanes, with lots of tunnels, 265 scenic pull-outs, and lots of museums and visitor centres along the way.
