Steve and I drove to South Bend Friday morning and caught a flight to Atlanta, then changed places for a ride to Knoxville. We had a taxi waiting for us and Kim drove us to Pigeon Forge where we had hotel reservations for two nights. We took a little walk to the local Kroger and stocked up on some snacks and drinks. On Saturday morning, we walked next door to the Rocky Top Harley Davidson shop to pick up our Ultra Glide. Then we proceeded to get some wind in our hair and bugs in our teeth as we rode the mountains and valleys for the next 6...

We were told by some people we met in town yesterday to make sure we do the Cades Cove Loop. This is a one way 12 mile route along side of the Great Smokey Mountains. What a beautiful drive it was. There were many cars on the route too, so it was slow but steady. We stopped at The Cable Mill Historic Area and Visitor Center. I took a walk to see the old 1800 yr old buildings and took a few pictures. The old wood looks so amazing on the buildings. They talk about a large black bear population, but we didn't see any along the way. When we...

You spend two weeks doing so much every and day that by the time the vacation is over, you look forward to going back to work to get some rest!! We started our day going back to the Island and riding the ferris wheel another time. Then we met our friends for lunch and went to a matinee showing at the Smoky Mountain Opry. We went into the visitor's center and watched a movie highlighting the beauty of the park with many aerial views. The museum showed the great numbers of animals, insects, plants and trees that live in the mountains. Some that thrive here are not found any place else in the United States. Some of the wild flowers were in full bloom as you can see in the picture posted of the iris. There were...
