Quite a trip off the highway to get to Natchez Trace State Park, but so worth it. 11 miles off the interstate means quiet enjoyment of a spectacular camp sight right on the lake. Unfortunately too hot and humid to really enjoy the park as much as we would have liked. The hummingbird feeder was busy, busy with lineups in the nearby trees and a few males jealously guarding. Big surprise, the Monarchs also enjoyed the feeder and were not afraid to hold their ground - see the photo with the hummingbird trying to gain access under the Monarch...Jump to full entry
May 29, 2017 - First Nights Out
Mon., May 29th – We rolled out of Franklin on Memorial Day at 9:15am and arrived at Natchez Trace State Park just north of Lexington, TN. This is a very nice tucked away park on a beautiful lake. Tues., May 30th – Our 2nd night was on another large lake… this time in the middle of Oklahoma, Lake Eufaula State Park.Jump to full entry
Aug 3, 2011 - Change the clocks we're on central time!
As we changed the clocks to central time the hour gained gave us an ideal opportunity to set off early again this morning. The plan was to stay at the David Crockett State Park near Winchester TN, but after making good time we decided to have a quick look around, a bite to eat and carry on to our next stop at the Natchez State Park just north-east of Lexington. After some more challenging drives across very narrow bridges and more winding roads we were nearing our destination when the GPS decided to detour us via an ATV gravel road route...Jump to full entry
