Jul 26, 2012 - July 22-26, 2012 -- Cedars of Lebanon State Park, Tennessee to Red Bay, Alabama
July 22-26, 2012 – Cedars of Lebanon State Park, Tennessee to Red Bay, Alabama July 22 – Yep, you read that right. I’m on my way back to Red Bay. When we had the really hard rain a couple of days ago, I had a new leak. Since I was only 200 miles from Red Bay, I decided to come back here to get it fixed. I was up and ready to go at 8, but I couldn’t get out of my parking space. The people parked next to me on the left had left their truck sticking out in the road. The folks across from me also had their truck sticking out in the road. I...

Jul 21, 2012 - July 21, 2012 -- Murfreesboro and Cedars of Lebanon State Park, Tennessee
July 21, 2012 – Murfreesboro and Cedars of Lebanon State Park, Tennessee This morning there was the cutest little trailer in the park. It must have come in late last night. It looks like a little house – and I mean a LITTLE house. There are pictures of it on Picasso. As soon as I can figure out how to add pictures here, I’ll add them to the blog. Right now there is a technical problem which they are working on. The only thing on today’s agenda was a visit to Cannonsburgh Village. Cannonsburgh is the original name of Murfreesboro. Minos...

Jul 20, 2012 - July 20, 2012 -- Smyrna, Murfreesboro and Lebanon, Tennessee
July 20, 2012 – Smyrna, Murfreesboro and Lebanon, Tennessee To finish out the Sam Davis saga, I visited his birthplace and home today. I’ve done his life in reverse, but I’ve covered all the bases now. It is a nice home, but I did not tour it. I took a couple of pictures and went on my way to the Stones River National Battlefield and the Fortress Rosecrans. The battle here was fought from December 31, 1862 to January 2, 1863. Lincoln had pushed Rosecrans, who was positioned in Nashville, to engage the South. Confederate attacks in Maryland...

Oct 22, 2010 - The Final Leg
Well, we left the Knox Hill Campground around 8:30 am to begin the final leg home. It was only about 6 hours if we did not stop for anything but you know that never happens. We stopped three times briefly and were able to arrive home around 2 p.m. central. It gave us enough time to unload before having to shower and get out the door for an engagement that we had scheduled before leaving. We are going to a banjo/sing that Ray's banjo teacher is participating in. It should be fun. It's in a fun location called Bell Buckle, a cute little...

Oct 21, 2010 - Tennessee to New Orleans
We left Tennessee on October 18th at 7:45 am and traveled to New Orleans arriving at the New Orleans KOA about 6:45 pm. I took a few photos of our Tennessee Autumn so that you could see that we do get a color change but not quite as vibrant as those in the East; however, it does lend itself to change. Our greeting party (Bob and Linda Dow) waved us in and then Bob helped with the backing in and Linda took a call from her kids. It was a very long day and we decided that in the future we will break out trips into smaller chunks.

Sep 20, 2010 - Camping in the Boondocks or Annie get your gun!
Hi Guys! We stopped in Kentucky finally....after traveling through half of Missouri, part of Illinois and finally in Kentucky...what a long day! We left early the next morning for Murfreesboro, TN to visit with Clinton's Sister, Delores; we only get to see her about once every year or so. We had a wonderful time...we got to go to Joe Cahoon's 16th birthday dinner (He is Delore's grandson). We saw Gloria, Delore's daughter and Bruce and Trish and Claire, Joe's family. And we SHOPPED, SHOPPED, SHOPPED.....and I lost my car key. We backtracked...

Jun 30, 2009 - June, 2009--Murfreesboro, TN
Boy, how time flies when you are having FUN. It sure was sad to see Rufas & Muffit go out of sight, but this family seems like it will be SO MUCH FUN. They are called the "Sanders Family". I don't exactly know what "Bubba" does for a living, but I DO KNOW that we hit an AWFUL LOT of yard sales during the month. Why, I thought one day, he was GOING TO SELL ME. Someone walked up and commented about how "cute" they thought I was, and the next thing I Knew, Bubba had put a PRICE one me. TEN thousand dollars seemed a little steep, but,...

Day 8 - Time to go home. All good things must come to an end..including vacations. We got up at 5:30 to make a 9:30 flight. Walking through the casino around 6:45, we were surprised to see there were still people gambling on the slot machines and drinking beer...obviously still there from the night before. I've been told that the casino's pump in oxygen just to keep people feeling refreshed. I guess it works! Our flight landed around 3:00, and our friend Debby was waiting for us. After a quick lunch at Ruby Tuesdays we headed to her house...

Aug 17, 2007 - Visit with Cousins Cecil and Alice
This morning I travelled to Murfreesboro, which is only about 30 miles south of Nashville, to spend a couple of days with Cousin Cecil and his wife, Alice. They live in a neighborhood about ten miles north of town and have a nice house on a large lot. Tonight Alice prepared a wonderful roast beef dinner. Murfreesboro was the state capital of Tennessee from 1819 until 1826, when the Legislature moved it to Nashville.

Boondocking....dry camping.....camping without hookups....roughing it.....call it what you may, we came very close to having our first such experience in the bus this past weekend. We had planned for a few weeks to go to the place that we went, but had overestimated their RV accommodations. Before I mislead anyone, I'll emphasize that it was a very nice place in lots of ways; it just wasn't fully suited for larger RV's, but understandably so. In prior years, we have gone to many NASCAR weekends in our previous RV trailers, where we spent...
