Jul 31, 2011 - OTRA - TN - Jackson
7/31/11 Another 9:00 a.m. leave time. Boy, we’re getting good at this. Of course, if the weather wasn’t so hot, we’d be leaving later but we like to be in camp and setup by early afternoon. Except for some sections of very bouncy cement roads, the drive was easy…even going around Memphis. I’ll tell you one thing…the driver sure doesn’t get to do a lot of sightseeing!! Bob’s telling me, “Oh, there’s this” and “There’s that” but I surely can’t look to see “this” and “that”, LOL. I did see that we passed Maverick Truck Manufacturing, the...

Jan 3, 2011 - Headed to Texas
We are loaded up and ready to make our first trip. We are very excited. We made it to Jackson,Tn and spent the night in the Walmart. Of course the first thing we do is use my phone to find the Walmart. Turned left off the interstate and started driving. It was suppose to be right at the interstate. After driving about 10miles thou town on small one way streets. We had about decided to turn around. At the next stop light a Walmart truck turned in front of us. Donald said surly if we follow that truck it will take us to Walmart. Sure enough...

Oct 11, 2010 - Jackson, TN to Murfreesboro, TN
Marge & Ken left home this pm for the first leg of the South African Garden Adventure w/ Andy & Jason. Click the "Itinery" tab for our schedule. "With just 1% fo the earth's total land surface, South Africa contains almost 10% of the world's total known bird, fish & plant species". They did not have an Ice Age as in the Northern Hemisphere is one of the reasons for this. We stopped at the Log Cabin Restaurant at Exit 143 for supper as it is a favorite of ours- especially for the homemade pies. Finished off the meal with chocolate meringue...

Aug 24, 2010 - Boonville, MO to HOME
We spent the last night of this trip at RV Express in Boonville, MO. It was a self serve park. For $25 had a full hookup w/ 50 amps. Filled with diesel at Boomtown at Benton , MO for $2.599/ gallon. Cheapest of the trip. Arrived home at 7:00 pm. Kevin had called that he was going to the ER because of swelling and redness around his right eye. We found him and learned that he probably had an infection and one of the implants that was used to support his eye after the wreck in 1996 had moved. The Dr. recommended surgery Wednesday morning...

Jun 7, 2010 - Off To Alaska
After many, many days/months of checking off list after list we are away on our Alaska Adventure. Marge has all her creature comforts to keep her occupied for the summer. At 3:18 pm we drove out of our driveway and headed North. Arrived in St. Charles, MO after dark (not unusual for us) only to be turned away at Wal-Mart because of a city ordinance limiting overnighters to 5,000 lb maximum! So, out come the Campground Directories and we locate one nearby. Punch it into the GPS and off we go through the side streets of St. Charles. We are...

May 8, 2010 - Cracker Barrel
I had to stop for my last meal on the road. When a my dear friend met me in Erie and took me to breakfast at Cracker Barrel and then send me off on 90W I had to finish the journey at Cracker Barrel so that she knows that I made it thus far....oh by the way. Her name is Rachel. Yes, she met me in Erie, PA and said goodbye for 7 days. She called me a cat for driving for 9 days to get to a place that some might accomplished in one day and others two days...oh well. That is why my mother named me Diana.

Jan 5, 2009 - 2009 Begins
Not sure how much traveling we will do during the year of 2009. With my Mother now in an assisted living facility and the economy, it may affect our travels. But we have one bit trip planned this year and that is to Alaska. Currently we plan to leave Jackson, TN around May 1st and cross over into Canada about June 1st. We are planning to meet up to two other couples in Washington State where we will all travel to Alaska together. Should be a real blast.

Aug 19, 2008 - Back to Jackson
We spent 3 nights in Pigeon Forge, TN. Spent one day driving up to Clingsman Dome. It was a real beautiful day so we decided to hike a little of the Appalachian Trail. Did not walk but about 2 miles round trip as we were not prepared for the hike, but it was nice. Came back down the mountain and stopped in Gatlinburg and walked the streets. There was so many people there. The next day we left RV park about 2:30 and drove to Cades Cove. This is one of our most favorite places as you can always see some animals. Soon after starting the 11...

Aug 12, 2008 - Elvis was NOT in the house!
728 miles to go ..... These guys are on the move and headed home. They are currently in Jackson, Tennessee (another blip in the road!). The ride wasn’t too bad today. A little light rain which they won’t complain about. They made a stop in Memphis at Graceland (and so did a lot of other people - it’s Elvis week!) But decided not to take the tour. So it was back on the trikes and up the road another 100 miles to Jackson, Tennessee. This choice will make the ride to Maggie Valley, North Carolina a little closer. Frank never changed his watch...
