Sep 28, 2012 - Driving through Nashville

Oh my gosh, did I get the look this morning. I slept in till 10:40 and he wanted to be on the road by 11:00. Well, I scrambled and we hit the road about 11:15. I am back in his good graces again. Problem is, I rarely go to bed before 12:30 or 01:00. I am a night owl, always have been, always will be. I have always loved staying up late. We drove about 4 hours today, pretty much straight through, which is unusual for us, but we just wanted to get there. Our destination was Dickson, small town just off the highway. We are just staying...

Oct 14, 2011 - Breakdown I-40, Dickson Tennessee

We broke down, the truck stopped running, as we were traveling along I-40 just West of Dixon Tennessee, I (Mike) could not get the RV and Truck in the Rest area 100 yards away, so the RV was stuck on the shoulder for almost 3 hours. We were towed to the "Red Neck" RV park, Dixon Ford fixed the truck and we were on our way the next day.

Sep 30, 2011 - One Night Stop In Tennessee

From Tanbark Campground - Dickson, TN Once again an uneventful drive from near Louisville, KY to just west of Nashville, TN and our overnight home in Dickson, TN. Arrived here about 2:30 p.m. our "body clock time" but on today's drive came back into Central Time Zone so the "clock time" was an hour earlier! We again did not unhook from the truck and just moved things inside to allow enough room to sit on the couch and one of the chairs. Glad it was just a one night stay, as this park rated lower than the one in Waynesville, OH Tuesday...

Home Sweet RV - 2011

Sep 24, 2011 - Family Hiking Day

I read somewhere that today has been designated “family hiking day”. Whether it is or isn’t, the rain let up and we went out for a hike. Our destination today was Montgomery Bell State Park near Dickson, TN. There is a lot of history associated with Montgomery Bell which I won’t get into today. We’ll be back down there in a week or two to hike the Ore Pit trail. All the history stuff fits in better with that trail. Montgomery Bell State Park has somewhere between 15 and 20 miles of trail. The longest trail, Montgomery Bell Trail, is a loop...

Jun 23, 2010 - Days 27, 28 & 29 - Organizing for baby

Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday were filled with reorganizing cupboards, closets and drawers for the new baby due in November. Steph has all of the equipment from Katie and a lot of clothes. We sorted, spotted, washed and stored baby clothes and cleaned all of the equipment and associated pads and covers. It takes a lot of pressure off of Steph to have things ready. Bob comes back from CA late Wednesday night. We leave for a trade show that Bob will be working on Thursday in Illinois.

Jun 20, 2010 - Day 24, 25 & 26 - Father's Day campout

On Friday 6/18, Steph & family drove the truck back to the campgound for a weekend camping trip in the Titanium. Kurt is awesome at playing with Katie: hiking around the campground, trips to the playground, collecting fireflies, exploring the lake, etc. He deserves to be celebrated on Father's Day. Putting up the awning on Friday morning alone, turned out to be less than successful. A man in the neighboring motorhome came over and asked if I wanted the sagging awning up? With his help we did it. We have the conveniences needed to be...

Jun 17, 2010 - Days 21, 22 & 23 - Another adventure

Tuesday 6/15 Bob left for California to spend time with his son Ryan. Wednesday, Lynda & Steph sorted baby clothes for the new baby due in early November. Thursday was an all-girl adventure. Lynda, Steph, Katie and the dog left from Dickson to Chattanooga to pickup the Titanium from Camping World where the brakes were fixed. There were intermittent thunder storms all day. We took off from Chattanooga for the Thousand Trails campground of Natchez Trace near the town of Hohenwald TN. I had never pulled the trailer without Bob being around. It...

Jun 14, 2010 - Days 18, 19 & 20 In Dickson TN

On Saturday we visited Montogomery Bell State Park in Dickson near Steph's home. It was hot and humid, but we managed to eat lunch outside in the park. Sunday, after church, we visited the jobsite tat Kurt is in charge of for Matheson Gas. It is a huge site and he is the only Matheson employee managing the construction. Monday, Bob and I drove around the countryside taking pictures of this beautiful place. The only downside is the heat and humidity. It got up to 100 degrees today. A late afternoon rain shower brought the temperature down....

Jun 11, 2010 - Day 16 & 17 - Change of plans

Well, there was a change of plans. We lost the trailer brakes on the Titanium again. We stopped at Camping World in Chattanooga, TN to have things checked out. It needs a new brake assembly. Since we could not do anything until the next morning, we went sightseeing. We ended up on Lookout Mountain. On the top of the mountain there is Point Park that was a part of a battle in the Civil War with cannons and a monument. That is where the pictures come from. We stayed overnight in their campground. Friday morning they took things part, but...

Jun 1, 2010 - Day 7 - Resting up

We spent the day resting up at Steph's home. We left in the evening to go to GA. We found out the hard way that June 1 was the first night they were starting constrution on Hwy 24 leaving Nashville on the way to Chattanooga. They narrowed from 4 lanes to 1 lane. That cost us at least an hour. We stayed at a truck stop overnight in Chattanooga.

May 31, 2010 - Day 6 - Katie

We spent the day resting and catching up with Lynda's daughter's family. Katie is 5 years old and her Mom is pregnant. Kurt has a challenging job with facilities under construction. Not enough hours in the day. The pictures are Katie playing in her frog wading pool. The weather is really great - in the 70's with a little humidity.
