Apr 23, 2019 - One helluva of a journey!

Our first accident! I checked to make sure everybody was ok and then called it in. The sheriff arrived within 10minutes. No one was hurt except for her trunk and our brush guard that crunched the hood and right front fender. The camper shifted forward slightly but luckily there was no damage. It could’ve been much worse but everything turned out ok. We had to find an RV park in the middle of a small town because the truck was going to be in the shop for about a month. On the bright side, that gave me plenty of time to figure out why I...

Sep 16, 2017 - Dickson TN – Walmart Parking Lot

Today, we made the stop we missed when we were heading east – The Bush Beans Visitor Center. We eat Bush beans all the time. Their baked beans are really good – especially the Maple Cured Bacon and Country Style baked beans. We were hoping for free samples – or at least coupons – but we didn’t get either. No worries, though, we got to get our picture taken with Duke. We also got to see how Bush Beans got its start, etc. It was pretty interesting and lots of people make this stop. The parking lot was packed when we came out after our tour.

Retired at Last!

Oct 1, 2015 - October 1, 2015 - Thirty Fifth Stop - Dickson, TN

Getting close to home. We scheduled this stop so the days trip was not over 325 miles. Small park with mostly full timers who probably were foreclosed on. It is a light rain at the moment and I expect rain the rest of the way home. Tomorrow we stop at the Bean Pot RV Park in Crossville, TN and the drive on Saturday is the final leg to home.

Oct 31, 2014 - Memphis.

Jun 22, 2014 - From Neat to Ugly

My next stop was intended to be for Saturday and Sunday, with Sunday being a rest stop. I pulled into the Tanbark RV Park. It looked rather quaint but okay. Two different RV associations had it listed. So what the heck. Boy was I wrong. After setting up the RV for the night I found out I was in heavy REDNECK country and I'm being nice. I expected to hear Dueling Banjos any minute. Since it was dark I locked up and stayed the night. Sunday morning I couldn't leave fast enough. So on to Cave City, Kentucky.

Summer Trip 2014

Sep 28, 2012 - Driving through Nashville

Oh my gosh, did I get the look this morning. I slept in till 10:40 and he wanted to be on the road by 11:00. Well, I scrambled and we hit the road about 11:15. I am back in his good graces again. Problem is, I rarely go to bed before 12:30 or 01:00. I am a night owl, always have been, always will be. I have always loved staying up late. We drove about 4 hours today, pretty much straight through, which is unusual for us, but we just wanted to get there. Our destination was Dickson, small town just off the highway. We are just staying...

Yippee Tyo's!

Oct 14, 2011 - Breakdown I-40, Dickson Tennessee

We broke down, the truck stopped running, as we were traveling along I-40 just West of Dixon Tennessee, I (Mike) could not get the RV and Truck in the Rest area 100 yards away, so the RV was stuck on the shoulder for almost 3 hours. We were towed to the "Red Neck" RV park, Dixon Ford fixed the truck and we were on our way the next day.

Sep 30, 2011 - One Night Stop In Tennessee

From Tanbark Campground - Dickson, TN Once again an uneventful drive from near Louisville, KY to just west of Nashville, TN and our overnight home in Dickson, TN. Arrived here about 2:30 p.m. our "body clock time" but on today's drive came back into Central Time Zone so the "clock time" was an hour earlier! We again did not unhook from the truck and just moved things inside to allow enough room to sit on the couch and one of the chairs. Glad it was just a one night stay, as this park rated lower than the one in Waynesville, OH Tuesday...

Home Sweet RV - 2011

Sep 24, 2011 - Family Hiking Day

I read somewhere that today has been designated “family hiking day”. Whether it is or isn’t, the rain let up and we went out for a hike. Our destination today was Montgomery Bell State Park near Dickson, TN. There is a lot of history associated with Montgomery Bell which I won’t get into today. We’ll be back down there in a week or two to hike the Ore Pit trail. All the history stuff fits in better with that trail. Montgomery Bell State Park has somewhere between 15 and 20 miles of trail. The longest trail, Montgomery Bell Trail, is a loop...
