Jun 22, 2019 - Marcy Jos bakery, Meriwether Lewis and Gordon House

Today I went on my own to see more of the Trace. In the AM I went to Marcy Jo’s Bakery that we didn’t find last night - Hwy 99 makes a jog that we didn’t recognize. It has a pretty large seating area for lunch and breakfast and all the desserts and sweets we see on the show. There were the famous cinnamon rolls and angel biscuits and I bought some of each. After lunch the Dezl put me on a really crazy path to the Trace - through farmland, up and down and around, bad roads, etc. Finally made it to the site of Grinders Stand where Meriwether...

2019 trip

Jun 21, 2019 - Pres. Polk, Marcy Jos and Rory Feek concertse

Today we went to Columbia and toured the James K Polk home museum. We had our own guide and the tour of the home was very informative - Polk was our 11th president inaugurated in 1844 who served one term. He lived in this home a few years and it’s the only place left with his memoirs. During his term he added the Oregon territory, Texas and went to war with Mexico to add California and the rest of the west to the US territory. He did not address slavery in any way and therefore left that question to successors. The tour included a church...

2019 trip

Jun 20, 2019 - Texas T

The divided highways in Alabama are so much better than Hwy 45 in Mississippi. We had a smooth ride up to Muscle Shoals and bought diesel at Loves, next time I’ll take my Loves card and see if we get points as well as fuel at the pump. Luckily the rain took place last night and it has moved out - had a dry ride to Cornersville. Two packages were there and the Chewy order is to be delivered this afternoon. This is a really nice campground, long level spots.

2014 RV Adventure

Jun 27, 2013 - Cornersville, TN

27Jun13 - We are in Cornersville, TN. at the Texas T Campground. We left Nashville this morning because we could not resolve the electrical issues we were having at the campground. This was a short drive about 60 miles south but we were both exhausted from dealing with the confusion and stress. This is a nice little campground with good electric service and we have verified the problems we were having are not with out coach but actually with the Two Rivers Campground. Once we were setup, showered and chilled out a bit we decided to ride...

Sep 14, 2011 - Cornersville TN

Well today was a welcome change…but at a cost. I wandered over to the service bay, as is my morning ritual, to ask if the final part came in. Today’s answer was, again, no. So I went back and asked Michele if we should go ahead and have the shower fixed and live with an intermittent entry step in the interest of getting out of this paradise called Red Bay. She agreed, so I went and told the tech of our decision. He said that while I was gone he got approval from his boss to take the parts off a brand new step and get both pending items...

May 12, 2011 - Texas-T in Tennessee

/// Thursday - May 12, 2011 A Travel Day. We got an early start this morning, departing Auburn, AL by 7:00 AM. The road conditions today were mostly very good. We hit a lbit of road construction and traffic congestion near Birmingham (to be expected) that caused some white knuckle driving but it actually went quite well. We made just two stops today--once to kick the tires and then at the TN state line welcome center where we ate our lunch. We arrived in Cornersville and the Texas-T Campground just after noon. Check-in was very...

Oct 27, 2010 - One Night Stand

What a difference a day makes. When we left Grandma's RV Park this morning, it was a beautiful, bright, sunny day. It was almost as if yesterday never happened. We drove around 190 uneventful miles and arrived in Cornersville, TN early afternoon. Texas "T" Campground is a nice level park with gravel and grass. The pull through sites are huge (ours was about 120 feet long). There was no problem staying hooked up to the RV and we even had more than enough room for the car as well. It was right off the I65 freeway so there was quite a bit of...

Are We There Yet?

Oct 16, 2010 - Downtown Chicago

What a great day! Jody, Dave, Lauren, Ryan, Roger and I got on the train headed for downtown Chicago. I hadn't realized it, but this was the first time Roger had ever been downtown. When he was still working, I used to drive to Chicago and Jody and I would take the train to shop for Christmas. We always went to the American Girl store and then the Cheesecake Factory for lunch. Today we took a Taxi from the train station to Michigan Avenue and then we walked around taking in all the sights. Of course, our ultimate destination was the...

Are We There Yet?

Mar 22, 2010 - A Short Drive to Cornersville

Well, we are all set to get into Columbia in the morning for our service appointment. This morning we moved from Goodlettsville south on I-65 about 75 miles. The closest village is Cornersville, which can hardly be called a village at all. The campground, Texas T, is good for a one-night stand. There are about 40 sites, all pull-thrus. The interior roads and parking pads are gravel and level. The sites are spacious and some have a tree and most have a small row of hedge. It is located just off I-65 so there is some traffic noise, but not...

Scratchin' the Itch

Oct 8, 2008 - The Tiffin Factory Tour

Since my last post in Fort Sill, OK. We moved over to Fort Smith, Arkansas for one night and then on over to The Isle of Capri Casino just across the Mississippi River in the state of Ole Miss. Just so you know….NO I Did Not Gamble. We just took advantage of the….One Dollar a Night With Full Hook-Ups. I learnt my lesson on gambling a long time ago……now about the biggest chance I take is buying a lottery ticket every now and again. Tuesday we moved on over to Red Bay, Alabama to take the factory tour of the Tiffin Motor home Company. It was...

May 26, 2008 - Family Fun and now off to Tennessee

Great family time – spent Sunday on the Pearl River, upriver from the Ross Barnett Reservoir. Chad, Katherine, and several friends have camp sites set up on the river, and they often go there for weekend fun. Chad’s brother Todd and his wife Cassie own a ski boat plus Chad and Todd each own a jet ski, so we all had lots of fun today! I rode a jet ski by myself for the first time ever, and it was FUN! Katherine and Chad can do all kinds of tricks on the jet ski, but Chad’s mom and I were happy to just ride it with no tricks involved. Fred...
