Apr 13, 2013 - Two Museums

After a delicious " two eggs over easy" breakfast, Kate and I drove to Clinton, TN to visit two museums . The first was the Museum Of Appalachia. This museum is a collection of pioneer buildings and artifacts. John Rice Irwin traveled all over Southern Appalachia buying things and collecting stories from the mountain people. Kate and I walked through the village and we could hear the music of "the pickers" who were sitting on the porch of one of the homesteads. The smallest building in the village was Tom Cassidy's house. Tom was an old...

Apr 28, 2010 - Catching Up

We finally have a reliable internet connection so I will try and catch up from Saturday. It rained all day Saturday and everyone kept saying the conditions were right for a very bad storm. Well, they were right on the money. The tornadoes that were in Louisiana and Mississippi were very close to where we were last week and the tornado in Alabama was around 20 miles south of where we were Saturday. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends of those who lost their lives and also for the ones whose homes were destroyed. The...

Are We There Yet?

Jul 6, 2008 - Up to Tennessee

Fox Inn Campground-Clinton, Tn. After a nice weekend visiting in the Atlanta area it was time to break camp this morning and head up the road to Tennessee. We got the coach unhooked, the car hooked on and hit the local QT filling station for some $4.05 gas. I never thought I would see anything near that, but am glad we can still travel. We drove 235 miles to this park, which is just .3 miles off of I75. Traffic in Atlanta across I285 was good and once on I75 we stayed there. We stopped at the Tennessee welcome center and had lunch in the...

Another appraisal class resulted in a second trip to Clinton. While Dave is in classes, we run around to places that we had not been since our teenage years. We also went to places that didn't exist when we were teenagers. Our route to Clinton starts with a 90 mile ride up I-75, then we turn right when I-75 and I-40 merge. We stay on the merged interstates until we reach the Pelisipie Parkway exit. Then, its the Parkway to Edgemore Road, Edgemore Road to US-25, US-25 to TN-61, then 61 to Fox Inn Campground. This particular trip, we visited...
