Oct 8, 2010 - Playing in the park

We played a couple of rounds of corn hole this morning - guys vs girls - the guys won both rounds. This afternoon we walked around the state park, saw the wildlife museum, a cave that turned out to be a ledge, played in the playground, rode bikes around the other 2 campgrounds and around the park to the disc golf course where we played nine holes of disc golf. Having a wonderful weekend. After dinner we surprised our parents with a 52nd anniversary cake then watched a video that our guide from Barrow, Alaska had sent to the Ratliffs. It was...

Fall 2010

Oct 7, 2010 - Drive to Cedars of Lebanon State Park

Drove to the Cedars of Lebanon State Park to meet my parents, sisters and their families. For the first time, my sisters' children are all on fall break at the same time so we decided to have a camping weekend reunion. It is difficult to get everyone together and we were excited to get this opportunity. My parents got to the campground first and held three 50A spots. Arrivals worked out nicely with almost everyone arriving by mid-afternoon. Melody and Chance got here after dinner since he had to work today. We spent the afternoon talking,...

Fall 2010

Sep 9, 2008 - Mundane Days

From Cedars of Lebanon State Park, Lebanon, Tennessee. The writings have been slim lately while the activities have been rather mundane. We have been doing mostly everyday normal living the past several days with very little if any typical RV-living activities. After returning Micah, Joelle & Isabel to Mom & Dad last Monday, we then met my reconnected-cousin Sue (of which I wrote a few weeks ago) & her husband Frank for dinner. If you have ever met a close relative for the first time after a 40+ year absence, you will know the excitement...

We're Wingin' It

Jun 10, 2007 - Friends & Feeders

Still hanging out for a couple more days here at Cedars of Lebanon State Park, Lebanon, Tennessee, 25 miles east of Nashville. New bird feeders & old friends............. After not doing much of anything except "camping" all day & night Thursday & then doing more of the same morning Friday, we finally stimulated ourselves enough Friday afternoon to go into town. Our neighbor the first couple of days that we were here at the campground had told us that the Good Sam club was having their annual state rally at the local agricultural center....

Jun 7, 2007 - The Cheesecake Factory....UHMMM

Still from Cedars of Lebanon State Park near Lebanon, Tennessee, 25 miles east of Nashville. Since I last wrote of our activities three days ago, our time has been consumed by camping, celebrating our anniversary & going to doctors (nothing serious, all just check-ups). Vicki & I have had a running joke for many years as we saw other people, or as we did it ourselves, at campgrounds just being couch-potatoes that they were "camping". That is that activity in which the hardest working part of the body is the buttocks, as it supports the rest...

We're Wingin' It

Jun 4, 2007 - A Moving Day

From Cedars of Lebanon State Park, Lebanon, Tennessee, 25 miles east of Nashville. If you read my entry from last night, you know my thoughts on the bathhouse at the campground (Poole's Knob, COE) where we were then. To validate that my actions support my words, this morning I took my shower in the bus. If you have been reading this journal for several months, you know that that is a rarity if I have any choice at all. We noticed when we entered the building last night that it was marked as # 3. That gave us a little bit of hope, but after...
