When we left Pigeon Forge it would be about 3.5 hrs to Nashville. No problem right??? Well we got on the phone calling for campsites close to Nashville, nothing to be had, then we tried some on outskirts of Nashville, no go! So after much frustration and did I mention frustration, we found a site 45 min. West of the city. A State Park that only had availability for tonight. The weekend was booked. Montgomery Bell State Park, located in Dickson County about 30 miles south west of Nashville, is what the state calls a “resort” park. There are 7 parks which fit into this classification and they all have lodges, golf courses, trails, and campgrounds. In other words, they offer more activities than the non-resort parks. At Montgomery Bell the lodge has recently been remodeled and has modern hotel rooms and a wonderful common area facing the 26-acre Lake Acorn.
