Sep 15, 2012 - Until next year
Watertown, SD. This morning everyone said their final farewells to the loons on the lake and packed up. The other 2 couples drove all the way home, about an 8 hour trip. Jim and Sandi are averse to such long jaunts but did put in a long day for us. Because we had such a long drive we did not have much diversion along the way. We enjoyed the falls colors while still up north but noted there was not much to look at as we headed south. The original intention was to make our way to Boston to join an 8-day Trafalgar Autumn Colors tour. We are...

Sep 12, 2011 - Watertown, SD (Day 2) - Redlin Art Center
(Ron Writing) Several days ago the air conditioner in the truck stopped working. I made an effort to diagnose the problem to no avail so this morning we took it in to the Chevy dealer here in Watertown. It took the mechanic quite a while to diagnose the problem but he finally found it. Underneath the large fuse box under the hood he found a mouse nest and the critter had chewed off a wire that controls the clutch on the AC compressor! With the wire repaired we now have air-conditioning again. Of course they are now predicting much cooler...

Sep 11, 2011 - Watertown, SD - Another Travel Day
(Ron Writing) It was another travel day. We left Fargo early this afternoon and headed south on I-29. This afternoon we crossed into South Dakota, our “home state”. It’s the first time we’ve been here since we came here to get our driver licenses over four years ago. Late this afternoon we arrived in Watertown, SD where we are spending the night at a WalMart Supercenter parking lot. We are parked right beside a cornfield – makes this Iowa boy feel right at home! Weather: Overnight low was 63°, today it was sunny with highs in the high...

Apr 5, 2010 - Renewed Road Trip
Well hello everyone! We wintered in South Dakota, you would think we would have better sense to go further south! Overall it was a good winter, not too much bad weather, lots of snow with only 2 bad blizzards, otherwise just good old snow fall. We are melted out now and waiting for the ground to dry more so we can pull our rig out of storage and get going. It was a good time to catch up with Tim and Di, Brenda's brother and sister-in-law as they live in Watertown. We spent Thanksgiving day with them and had many other occasions to visit and...

Sep 20, 2009 - Travel Day
We left out of Casselton this morning on I-94 then to I-29 stopping at a Flying J to get propane, but no luck. They said they couldn’t sell propane today to RV’s as they had no way to measure it??? We thought he was joking at first, but no he wasn’t. Not sure just what all that meant, but lucky for us we didn’t need it that bad. Traveling down I-29 again all we saw was cattle, soy beans, and corn. The land here in this part of North Dakota is flat as a pancake and sparely populated just a few ranch houses every now and then. There are...
