Sep 12, 2007 - Day Nine - Nemo SD

It was about 40 degrees this morning and our plan was to go to Sturgis and to Deadwood. We dressed for what we thought would be cool weather, but when we got to Sturgis, 16 miles from the cabin, the sun had come out and it was already 86 out. What a swing, ay? Needless to say, we peeled off some outer layers and sat in the shade at the Harley dealer for a bit before touring through the off-season city of Sturgis. Sep 11, 2007 - Day Eight - Gillette, WY to Nemo, SD

We hopped on the bikes and headed for Devil's Tower. It was the 6 year anniversary of 9/11 so the flags were flying at half mast today. The geological wonder is 60 million years old, composed of hardened magma that was forced upward, contracted, and fractured into columns. It rises 1267 feet above the nearby river and is truly an amazing site. There were several climbers attempting to scale it as we watched...better them than us!
