Jun 28, 2018 - Fort Pierre SD – Fischers Lilly Park Campground

Here we are in Fort Pierre to do laundry and grocery shopping before we head further north. Decided to take the boat out and see if we could find a few fish since we didn’t bring many with us from Fort Thompson. We thought we would surely catch some big ones. We thought wrong! Didn’t find any fish in our afternoon on Lake Sharpe and decided we wouldn’t waste any more time fishing here. At least, not this trip. So, you ask, with time to kill and no fish to catch, what does one do in Fort Pierre? Visit the Casey Tibbs Rodeo Center and Museum,...

Jul 20, 2017 - Fort Pierre SD – Fischers Lilly Park Campground

Laundry and grocery stop here in Pierre – and, as long as we’re getting things fixed – we might as well take our little 9.9 Mercury boat motor in and get it fixed. (It wouldn't shift into gear.) Rog tried getting it fixed in Mandan, but the guy wasn’t all that interested in doing the job, so he found a guy who was interested in Pierre. Needless to say, this has been an expensive week. Jun 18, 2014 - Oahe Rec Area, SD

Good news…the severe thunderstorm/tornado did not come our way last night. We had some rain in the early morning. That was about it. Stopped at the 1880 Town on I-90 for lunch at the 50’s train diner…cars were really old and run down, chair were dirty, hamburgers were ok. The 1880 Town had lots of stuff…started out as the abandoned set of the movie, “Dances with Wolves”, and then stuff was collected and added to build the little town it is today. OK to spend an hour walking thru this town if you have nothing else to do. $12/pp entrance...

Jun 18, 2013 - Fort Pierre SD - Fischers Lilly Park Campground

We have officially started our trip south for the winter. It's a little early, we know, but it will take us a while to get to Arizona and we have to be in Chanute KS for some repairs in early August, so off we go. Planning to be back in Arizona for the winter in October sometime. Stopped in Fort Pierre's city park to camp while we grocery shopped and did laundry. There is an excellent laundry in Ft. Pierre very clean and with good machines. Keep that in mind if you ever find yourself in Ft. Pierre with a bunch of dirty clothes.

Sep 2, 2012 - Mankato,MN to Pierre,SD

Day two: Destination - Badlands Soundtrack - LMFAO, Alabama Shakes, Arcade Fire, Allman Brothers, Beastie Boys, Blink 182 and Maroon 5 There's not much to Western Minnesota and Eastern South Dakota other than corn fields and windmills... We saw a lot of both of those. Pumbaa (the bus) has been running a little hot. So we got to check out a few waysides along the way while Nick tries to figure out how to cool the engine down. I did see a billboard that said Wall Drug was in 300 or so miles. So, we have that to look forward to. We did hit up...
