Oct 7, 2011 - Aberdeen, SD

Oct 7 Woke up this morning to clearing skies, no rain, but cold and windy. Worried about RG, can’t get him to eat and all he wants to do is hide under the covers. He did eat some yogurt and snackies though. Will try and find some different food tonight. This section of North Dakota is corn fields and sunflower fields. The front seat of this car looks like the cockpit of a plane, with both the laptop and a separate huge monitor, but at least I can follow the route this way. We are in a wildlife refuge and a pheasant just ran across the...

Sep 6, 2011 - Sighting of the Black Hills

Today was a long drive day and we ended up spending the night at the local Super Wal*Mart parking lot. During the drive today we came across some interesting things. First thing we came across was the Ben Ash Monument, Ben Ash was the first to sight the Black Hills. Also in the same location was a grave yard we notice by the name of Monument Hill Cemetery with the Perry family buried there. The grave yard was locked so I took a photo through the fence. Then driving down the road we ended up behind the wildest looking tractor. Tom could...

Another peaceful night sleeping at Uncle Wally's. Decide since we won't be seeing his friend in Sioux Falls, maybe I can call a dealer there and see about getting that fan cover fixed? They don't open though until 8:30...so I wait. Call them back and he tells me that he can't work us in. Too busy. First time we've been told that on our trip. Suggests that if we're going straight up 29, to see if Fargo or even Bismarck since we're going that way. Find a dealer in Bismarck...nope, they're swamped, can't get to us for two weeks. I tell Sam,...

Patti and I had early appointments for 1/2 hour massages. Mike picked us up in his nieces car and we went to get Ella and Joe for breakfast at HOP. While there there was a major storm and all the streets were flooded. There were flash floods and tornadoes spotted around the area. The water was up to the door of the car. Mikes moms street was so flooded the road was blocked. Our bikes were trapped. We were stuck for the day. We had to walk to a gas station to pick up a pizza delivery because they couldn't get through the streets. We mostly...

Jun 15, 2009 - Day 4 Aberdeen, SD

Aberdeen 350 miles. woke up to a rain today. Hit the road and boy did it rain. It down poured the whole way to Sioux Falls. Challenging, but scary at times, mostly annoying. We stopped twice to add clothes. Helen Keller would have loved it, she liked weather that she could feel. Patti's bike has had a shimmy for a few days and was getting worse. We stopped at the Harley shop in Sioux falls and had a 2 hour wait for repair. It was a nice break, they had a nice lounge, free coffee, friendly bike travelers to share stories with and free coffee....
