Apr 14, 2014 - Spring @ Lake Hartwell, SC

1 x 44 + 1 x 35 = PAIN. (1,575 will also be accepted as correct) One 44 year old man, plus 1 (poorly inflated) basketball, times 35 minutes shooting hoops, while stooping and twisting for those “one-armed” side shots, equals a strained back. Ok, so it’s been a few years (Maybe 20?) and carrying the kayak on my shoulder back uphill to the camper the next day probably didn’t help. Lesson learned… two aspirin please, (bottles, that is). Now, having to gingerly roll my sore ass around in the cabover for a few days isn’t having a negative...

Aug 18, 2011 - Health Update

Tuesday, August 16, 2011-Coneross C.O.E. --Townville, S.C. Debbie had to visit the doctor yesterday, but don’t worry everything seems to be working out O.K. About five days ago, her left eye started hurting and turning red. We were in a WalMart, so Debbie asked the pharmacist about it. He guessed that it may be allergies and suggested an over the counter eye drop. He also said that if it did not clear up in a few days she should see a doctor. Well, her eye just got worse and over the weekend it became very painful, and light sensitive. We...

Aug 14, 2011 - Moving South

Thursday, August 11, 2011-Coneross C.O.E. --Townville, S.C. Move day today again. We moved 115 Miles southeast. We are now located right on the far western border of South Carolina, very close to the Georgia border. We had a nice drive today, on Interstate 85. Smooth road, and light traffic. No problems on the road, and we are thank full for that. We have a huge, beautiful, lakeside site. I will send you all some pictures in the next few days. We are here for 12 days to get back on our regular schedule of Tuesday being “move day.” As I...

Jun 13, 2008 - Game night

Tonight is game night!!! All the South Carolina folks are gathered over at the Bank's house. - My hope is Cranium. Well I put up the hammock I bought in Honduras in the front yard and Elizabeth loves it. She almost fell asleep in it -- a great nap instigator. Elizabeth and I went on a walk down Newland Rd and met some of her neighbors - we found out more about their neighbors than Sharon and family knew. They need to talk to their neighbors - come on - they live out in the country - Isn't it supposed to be more of a community feel?!?!?!?

Jun 11, 2008 - Visiting with Elizabeth and Eliana

I have finally started my trip, after weeks of looking forward to getting out of town. I have safely made it up to South Carolina where my sister Sharon lives. Mom and I traveled up yesterday - it was a fairly uneventful trip. The only hick-up - Mom was driving after Atlanta and I was sleeping. She woke me when she noticed that my car was on empty. EEKKKK!! I used my GPS to find the next gas station (10 miles away). I put 18.3 gallons in my car. I have never ever put more than 17 gallons in my car. (And I used to be the queen of running out...
